Update to v. 1.46 Not Received

Recommended Posts

I'm not receiving the update to v. 1.46 when I check for updates with MBAM v. 1.45. There are no error messages and I'm still receiving the latest download of the database (currently 4059 as of May 2nd). Is anyone else having this problem?

I know I can download the v. 1.46 update from FileHippo.com or Malwarebytes.org but in the past these version updates have always downloaded automatically when I check for updates from within MBAM.

_____________

MS Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 (32-bit)

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.45 (registered but real-time protection disabled)

Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2010 17.6.0.32

Intel Core2Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83 GHz, 3.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

MBAM likely did download and install the v. 1.46 upgrade, but that upgrade needs to install twice before it takes...that is why it looks like mothing happened. re-install and it should be ok.

Hi Imacri -

Please do a manual update and if it is near or on version 4060 you will have 1.46 installed - if you are not sure then you can clean out 1.45 and get 1.46 -

This will fully remove any older editions and install the latest version - If it asks for a reboot at the end of the process then please do it to fully update -

To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read Carefully

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Thank You -

Any other questions please post back -

noknojon:

I'm fairly certain that MBAM did not automatically update to version 1.46 since:

a) I download my updates manually on a daily basis and MBAM normally notifies me that it must shut down before it can finish installing a version update (which has not happened since the last successful update to v. 1.45)

b) The "About" tab confirmed that I was running v. 1.45

I followed your instructions but ran into problems when I tried to download and run mbam-clean.exe. The download kept failing - the saved file was always smaller than the expected 58K and I would get an error message that mbam-clean.exe was not a valid Windows 32 file when I tried running it from my hard drive. I think that my Norton Internet Security 2010 was interfering with the download of the cleaner and the only way that I could run mbam-clean.exe was to temporarily disable NIS 2010 and run the file directly from the Malwarebytes website (i.e., by choosing Run instead of saving a copy to my hard drive) .

Version 1.46 is now installed and seems to be running correctly.

Hi Imacri -

Most times you can install into 'My Documents' and then run it from there -

I hope all is running ok now - I should always add to disable your A/V when using this process, and re-enable after you finish -

Some also find that removal of System Restore points also helps, then re-enable after you complete -

Thanks for your feedback -
