Recommended Posts

For a 732 Error....

Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer:

Backup the Registry:

Modifying the Registry can create unforeseen problems, so it always wise to create a backup before doing so.

  • Please download ERUNT from here
  • ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.
  • Double click on erunt-setup.exe to Install ERUNT by following the prompts.
  • Use the default install settings but say NO to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the Start-Up folder. You can enable this option later if you wish.
  • Start ERUNT either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup process.
  • Choose a location for the backup.
    • Note: the default location is C:\Windows\ERDNT which is acceptable.

[*]Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are selected.

    [*]Click on OK

[*]Then click on YES to create the folder.

Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe

Once you've done your backup, please do the following:

  • Click on Start and select Run
  • In the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  • Try updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs:

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products.

Now try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once more and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 3

    [*]Click on the Connections tab

[*]Click on the LAN settings button

[*]Under Automatic configuration make sure that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked, if it is not, then click the box next to it to check it

[*]Under Proxy server make sure that the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). is not checked and if it is, click the box next to it to uncheck it

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Internet Options window

[*]Try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to see if it now works correctly

I have the same issue. Never had this one before. Tried to Update the database and comes up with same error code:

"An error occurred, Please report the following error code to the malwarebytes Anti_malware support team.

Error code: 732 ( 12007, 0 )"

I've run through all the Steps:

-Backup Registry

-Modify the Registry

--C:\WINDOWS\system32>REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

---Get statement, "The operation completed sucessfully"

-Turned Off any XP firewall and disabled Vipre software

-Checked IE8 settings, "Tools-Internet Options-Connections"

--Box was already checked. Nothing had changed.

Ran to update the file and pops up with error code every time.

I will note here that I had also found some infected files when I ran the scan without the update.

Did the restart and scanned numerous times (4x) and the last two were clean.

I'm running version 1.44

Current database information:

Date: 1/7/2010

Databse version: 3510

Fingerprintes loaded: 174959

Snapshot of this information attached

Of course with all that said, I'm still unable to update the database.

I'm sure I still have some type of virus floating around becase when I perform a NSLOOKUP on

www.malwarebytes.org, www.symantec.com, www.mcafee.com; I receive "DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds."

However when I try www.google.com, www.msn.com, www.yahoo.com; no problems.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome SyTech -

Have you disabled any Firewall involved with VIPRE ? Also is VIPRE your only antivirus installed (it will cause conflicts with any others) -

(12007,0) ERROR_INTERNET_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED The server name could not be resolved. ...

First ensure that VIPRE is the only Antivirus installed -

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

2. Restart your computer (very important).

3. Download and run this utility. mbam-clean.exe

4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).

Next - Disable VIPRE while Malwarebytes reinstalls -

5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. mbam-setup.exe

Add the exclusions from the above list from Firefox once you re-enable VIPRE

(Note - Same reinstall for free version) -

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent -

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and that you can run a quick scan and all is working as expected.

Thank You - :)

Please let me know if this helps - (You are about 250 Versions behind in updates {3748 current} ) -

One extra - Have you had this for some time (12007) or have you recently changed to wireless modem ?-
