Hello all, i am sorry if this has been posted before i found similar posts but nothing the same.

Firstly i am on dial up and i am receiving the above error when trying to update malwarebytes, i will cut to the chase i changed my internet service provider but both accounts are still active.

I have no problems updateing malware bytes with my previous ISP but i cant with this new one yet all my other apps update without a problem.

I have tried all sorts of scenarios with two diferrent computers (one on XP the other on Seven)

I have tried disabling firewall & resident protection on both computers.

All other apps update ok on both computers on this new ISP account but Malwarebytes wont.

If i switch both computers back to the old ISP account on there is no issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as i cant live without mbam :)

See these quick instructions see it it helps:

For a 732 Error....

Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer:

Backup the Registry:

Modifying the Registry can create unforeseen problems, so it always wise to create a backup before doing so.

  • Please download ERUNT from here
  • ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.
  • Double click on erunt-setup.exe to Install ERUNT by following the prompts.
  • Use the default install settings but say NO to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the Start-Up folder. You can enable this option later if you wish.
  • Start ERUNT either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup process.
  • Choose a location for the backup.
    • Note: the default location is C:\Windows\ERDNT which is acceptable.

[*]Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are selected.

    [*]Click on OK

[*]Then click on YES to create the folder.

Note: if it is necessary to restore the registry, open the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe

Once you've done your backup, please do the following:

  • Click on Start and select Run
  • In the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  • Try updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs:

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products.

Now try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once more and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 3

Step 3: Verify Your Internet Connection Settings:

  • Open Internet Explorer
    • Note: It MUST be Internet Explorer, not Firefox, Opera, Chrome or any other internet browser

[*]Click on Tools at the top and select Internet Options

    • Note: If you do not see Tools, press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will show up

    [*]Click on the Connections tab

[*]Click on the LAN settings button

[*]Under Automatic configuration make sure that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked, if it is not, then click the box next to it to check it

[*]Under Proxy server make sure that the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). is not checked and if it is, click the box next to it to uncheck it

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Internet Options window

[*]Try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to see if it now works correctly

Thank You for your speedy response Firefox it is appreciated, I have actually tried all of these as i found them earlier in a different thread which you had posted on.

I disabled firewall & anti virus malware etc. in all different scenarios on both computers, also forgot to add in my first post that i also reinstalled mbam but to no avail

Hi mitchel -

The new ISP may have a 'constant' connectivity problem - This can be a problem with Dial Up - Also if you are using a wireless router in the house for the 2 units, this will not help things (due to strength input drop) - Please keep updating with the one that seems to have better connections -

The 732 (Malwarebytes) error is loss of, or lack of, constant connection during updates or usually lack of internet Explorer -

The 12007,0 (Microsoft) error message occurs with wireless router connection problems (from what I can find) -

If you could run them off a direct wired modem , you may pick up a bit more constant signal -

Please correct me if I have any of this wrong , but I do believe you to be running a wireless router (combined with Dial up) as this can cause a signal drop -

Thank You - :)

Thank you for your response noknojon, Yes what you said about the ISP not haveing a constant connectivity problem is where i think the problem lays.

I have gone to this one as we changed our telephone provider & with our telephone contract we get free 24/7 dial up.

I have reached a compromise with my wife that we use this for everyday browsing & email & keep the other provider on thier most basic plan of 20 hours per month for updateing & occasional download.

With the information Firefox & yourself have provided i have learnt a lot & now no where to start directing my attention in maybee finding a solution, I will post on the providers forum & see if anyone there has any ideas.

I also now that i know that mbam is dependent on IE's settings for tried setting IE timout to 2 minutes but it didnt work either;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813827/EN-US

Again thank you both for your help, if i find a solution i will update this thread to let you know as i am a member of other forums i know how greatfull i am when someone finds a solution and posts back thier results for future reference

Take care & keep up the much appreciated work you both do :)
