got 'Malware Defense' problem - help please ;-)

also, when I tried to install SuperAntiSpyware, i got message that the

administrator has applied settings to block such (same thing when I tried in

safemode while in/as administrator [which quite frankly I have never visted, and

never remember even seeing the Administrator option provided while accessing

safemode] ... which makes me ponder: could somethingk else besides me create

That administrator, ... or ?

but, what about that Malware Defense, and AVG finding/referencing it, while a

second, third running of Malwarebytes shows No More Signs Of It?

Thank you

whoops! here's the Main Message / Help-Request:

got 'Malware Defense' problem - help please ;-)

I followed / performed the following procedures:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...malware-defense

Malwarebytes 'apparently' functioned, as it picked up and supposedly removed 7

badguys, one or two with the direct words 'Malware Defense' in their names;

but when I go to install AVG anti-virus, after going thru its pre-install

procedures, it states that it has a compatibility problem with the following

software it found on my computer: Malware Defense

Hi malwally -

Please visit this site from our FAQ and click on the link to AVG Issues - There are known issues you should exclude from AVG when run with Malwarebytes -

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...ost&p=49525

These issues are explained here and you should be able to quickly fix them -

Thank You -

Hello, and than you for responding!

May I please clarify if whether or not I might have confused you by not better differentiating 'Malwarebytes' FROM (as different from) 'Malware Defense' (which is rogueware)

please note:

but, what about that Malware Defense, and AVG finding/referencing it, while a

noknojon,

I DID follow the Bleepingcomputer.com instructions,

and malwarebytes reports it cannot find any badguys/viruses,

and even Drweb-cureit reports it cannot find any badguys/virus, too ...

albeit, again/still, when I try to install AVG, ... same warning regarding 'Malware Defense':

please see:

Malwarebytes 'apparently' functioned, as it picked up and supposedly removed 7

badguys, one or two with the direct words 'Malware Defense' in their names;

but when I go to install AVG anti-virus, after going thru its pre-install

-----

thank you for that Malwarebytes link/instructions regarding removal of 'Malware Defense'!

(Will read and most likely try, Even if it is same method I've already done twice; I'm game for a cure ;-)

Thank you for helping! Much appreciated!

(btw, what is a good free anti-virus alternative to AVG please ;-)

Happy New Year!!!

Thanks for asking malwally -

If you want a good free A/V we tend to lean towards Avira AntiVir or Avast - Your other option is to use the new free Microsoft Securities Essentials -

I was using Avira but now I only use M/soft's MSE (with Malwarebytes naturally) - It has proven itself a few times for me -

Thank You for the reply - :)

PS. - Dr Web is good but it is only an on call remover

Hi malwally -

An "on call" type of anti virus or malware program refers to one that you must activate and it will not have scheduled scans -

It is like free Malwarebytes where you must click on manual updates as well as manual scans -

It cannot be programed to run once or more each day or even weekly as you may want to - MSE runs a few scans per day -

Thanks for your interest - :)
