If I get a plan for 3 computers and my child gets a nw one, can I  switch coverage to new one?

Hi.

It seems you are saying that you have a 3 seat license, or contemplating such.   If one of those is not used, you can use the license to activate on your child's machine.

If you have one old machine that is being replaced by a brand new one, you first want to de-activate license on the old machine, before activating on the new.

If you are only just asking , and you do not now have a license subscription, the answer is , Yes, you can transfer a license use from Old machine to a New one.

 

When making a license subscription purchase, you want to have as many "seats"  as you have machines.

Those can be Mac OS X, or Android, or Chromebook, or Windows.

Just to add to what Maurice said, you can deactivate a license on an existing Mac in the My Account tab of the settings, or by simply uninstalling the app (via the Uninstall option in the Help menu within the app). If you did something like erase or sell a machine without doing either of these things, you can manage your licenses here:
