alvarnell Posted July 1, 2019 ID:1319790 Share Posted July 1, 2019 If the black dot contains an exclamation point "!" then it's notifying you that Malwarebytes has detected threats during a scan. When you click on the menubar icon it will have an entry matching that black dot that offers to "Review scan results". If the block dot contains clockwise rotating arrows, it indicates that Malwarebytes is running a scan. When you click on the menubar icon it will have an entry "Stop scan".
