Scan Finishes Within 2 Minutes

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am assuming this is a problem but not 100% sure. I've been experiencing this for a long time, I just havent got round to trying to fix it.

If I open Malwarebytes and click Scan Now on Dashboard or go into Scan and choose Threat Scan ''most comprehensive'', the scan is complete within 2 minutes. It also detects Google Chrome as being a problem, if I quarantine it closes any open browser pages. The report says it had scanned 237,396 objects.

If I open Computer and right click the drive I want to scan (this time it was my 250GB SSD) it still completes very quickly. The report gives a time of 4minutes 7 seconds and only 178,367 objects.

Is this a problem. Any advice on how this can be resolved? I have tried reinstalling but no joy.

If your drive is an SSD then it's very likely that the scan is completing so quickly due to the speed of the drive.  Also, as mentioned above, the Threat scan in Malwarebytes is quite efficient and is designed to be both fast and comprehensive.  On my own system scans take less than 2 minutes and have been as fast as less than 1 minute with some builds and databases.

If the issues with Chrome detections keep recurring it could be due to the sync function in Chrome.  You should be able to resolve it by following carefully the instructions in this topic.

You also might run a scan with ADWCleaner to check for and remove any additional PUP items that might be present on the system that Malwarebytes 3 may not detect as ADWCleaner and Malwarebytes each detect things the other does not.

You can also run a scan with the special build of Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit found in this topic to ensure that the rootkit scan is completing properly, and remove anything it detects and reboot if prompted to complete the removal process.

If the detections persist and/or you  have any other reason to suspect that the system might still be infected with something then it would be a good idea to read and follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new thread in the malware removal area containing the requested logs and information by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you directly in checking and cleaning your system of any remaining threats and issues when one becomes available.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks
