I can't download/install/uninstall

Recommended Posts

I don't know how or when it happened. But what I can only assume to be a nasty case of malware got me last night. I noticed when I was playing games with my friends and I wasn't allowed to launch the game because it thought I had a hacking software up. Then after that it wouldn't let me connect to the game networks at all, let alone the rest of my programs. First when I noticed something was wrong, I ran my AVG, but it found no threats. So to be safe I thought I would try to install malwarebytes, but when I tried, it said that it couldn't be downloaded. I then tried to put RKill and Malwarebytes on a usb so I can move them over to my PC from a different system. But whenever I tried I got an error saying that I was unable to transfer the programs. After that I learned that something is causing my C: drive to unwrittable and unreadable. I have no idea what I need to do to fix this.

Run FRST from the recovery environment.....

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/
save it to a USB flash drive. Ensure to get the correct version for your system, 32 bit or 64 bit

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

Plug the flash drive into the infected PC.

If you are using Windows 8 consult How to use the Windows 8 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt Here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/windows-8-recovery-environment-command-prompt/ to enter System Recovery Command prompt.
