Databases out of date, unable to access server

Recommended Posts

Heya

For about a week now, I'm getting notifications to update my database definitions, but whenever I click "update now" or "fix now" I get a message "Unable to access update server".  I also note there is a warning "Malicious Website protection disabled, Malware protection enabled" (even though I have enabled the former in the Advanced Settings).

I did think I was infected with some malware recently (a hijacker) but a combination of the usual cleaning tools appeared to have fixed it.  Now I'm not so sure.

I am running Win7, and have the Premium edition of Malwarebytes, version 2.0.1.1004, with database version v2014.05.15.14.

Do you have any advice on how to successfully update the databases?

Thanks in advance,

Tehkella

Al was working fine until I received a forced update, which is harrassing me with a barrage of popups and alerts within the app. I have all the current databases and software revision versions, blahblah, but cannot use my computer for anything any longer, except to keep retrying to download your insane and nonexistent updates. You're saying WHAT NOW?? I have to uninstall, clean up, reinstall, then install a beta version, WTF???

Hi, @Wallaby:

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Each computer is unique.

Problems that sound "the same" most often are not.

The same is true for solutions.

They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we try to stick to "one user per topic".

Please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button.

The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide both you and the OP with individual help to get you both up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

I have this issue too. Three days ago I used the clean uninstall tool, and reinstalled, Then Activated with licence information, and today it still it complains the database is out of date and still will not allow it to update, either via the 'Update' link or the 'Fix Now' button.

Any other ideas please?

Hello paulcurtis:

Malwarebytes leadership requests only one member per topic.

As all systems are unique, may we please request you originate your own thread in this sub-forum?

Thank you for your understanding. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Been having the same problem, the only way I can get it to update is to exit the program and restart it. Once restarted its able to update on its own. But it will happen again in a few days.

The popups are really getting annoying even after selecting disabled for notifications. I think there should be an option to run in silent mode as long as it can comply.

Obviously the option for notices to enable or disable doesn't work.

I truly like the older interface. I think the new interface looks like one of those cheap generic nonfunctioning applications that would be considered as malware.

Anyone have any thoughts how to completely suppress the notifications and pop-ups?

Thanks

Chris
