Help with black screen after removal...

MaxJ

Recommended Posts

Hi, Max here I've read the stickies so hope all the info need to get started is correct as I have a few issues I'm hoping to get some help with.

Laptop started displaying a server busy box which was the prodreg.exe so I ended the process and disabled it from the startup menu which seemed to have solved the problem. Scanned and removed some issues with malwarebytes however now after login I get a black screen with movable mouse cursor. cntrl+alt+del works and brings up the task manager but there are limited processes shown and the computer stalls when trying to shut down. Safe mode boots fine which is how I've created the dds and attach files.

Please find below the malwarebtyes logs and my dds+attach information. The computer belongs to my parents so although I have checked for any inappropriate material or programs I have no idea what's really on the system or what it's used for so if anything should be found please inform me and I will take the appropriate action.

Thank you in advance for your patience and any help, I look forward to your reply.

Okay restored the system back to 10 days ago when I am sure everything was functioning how it should however even though the normal login now takes me to the desktop the "Sever busy" box still appears but is now accompanied by a task bar pop up....

'Failed to connect to a windows service
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond'

Any attempts to do anything after this results in the computer freezing. Excuse my ignorance and thank you for your assistance so far any further advice would be much appreciated.

Ran services.msc to check status - startup type - log on as

System Event Noticication Service - blank - automatic - local system

COM+ Event System - blank - automatic - local service

RPC Endpoint Mapper?? - Started - automatic - network service

I didn't mess with anything. From the next thread I ran a sfc /scannow which reported that several problems were found and all were fixed for which there is apparently a log. Also did a memory test which reported no errors and a chkdsk which also reported it has replaced/fixed a number of bad sectors and files. After all that I am back to the black screen problem in regular startup. I am able to access av sites and download any programs okay in safe mode so I'm not sure what that means and whether I should proceed with the rest of the advice in that thread regarding the worm.

I have searched for info regarding the various issues like the Dell Support Center and the anti virus but I didn't want to proceed with anything without checking for your advice first, I am at a loss as to what to do.

Eventually narrowed it down to the bluetooth adapter and or drivers are causing the sever busy box and a program called Rapport by Trusteer (apparently recommended by HSBC bank) which is causing the System event notification. It's late here so I'll have to deal with this tomorrow but whilst both are disabled from the services everything works perfectly. I was going to uninstall the Trusteer program but I noticed another installed program called "DomaIQ by Tuguu" which I've search and is adware. I also checked the device manager in order to have a look at the bluetooth drivers but they seem up to date however there is an issue with the TCP/IP Protocol Driver in the hidden devices maybe this is relevant as well.

I await your instructions. Thank you for your patience MrC.

Okay well I was hoping you'd have some further guidance related to what I wrote but that's fine. I can't seem to uninstall the Trusteer program as some files are missing but everything seems to be working now that I've disabled the bluetooth peripheral devices in the device manager and services. If there is no malware/virus related issues then I won't take up any more of your time and I'll just search elsewhere to resolve the maintenance problems.

Well here's some info on Trusteer:

Install.DomaIQ removal:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68494-Manual-Removal-Guide-for-Install-DomaIQ

and.....

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.

Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator

  • Click on the Scan button.
  • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
  • When it's done you'll see: Pending: Please uncheck elements you don't want removed.
  • Now click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
  • Look over the log especially under Files/Folders for any program you want to save.
  • If there's a program you may want to save, just uncheck it from AdwCleaner.
  • If you're not sure, post the log for review. (all items found are adware/spyware/foistware)
  • If you're ready to clean it all up.....click the Clean button.
  • After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[s0].txt) will open automatically.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
  • A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.
  • Items that are deleted are moved to the Quarantine Folder: C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine
  • To restore an item that has been deleted:
  • Go to Tools > Quarantine Manager > check what you want restored > now click on Restore.
Then..................

Open up Malwarebytes > Settings Tab > Scanner Settings > Under action for PUP > Select Show in Results List and Check for removal.

Please Update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, post the report.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
