ThiefTMA Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53592 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Apparently, I had this problem as well. I asked my son to run the scanner for me while I was at work, and he deleted the file and the quarantine file. When he got home, he told me there had been a trojan agent called msconfig.exe found.Does anyone know how I can restore msconfig to my system? I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit on a Dell XPS.

Hardhead Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53601 Share Posted February 5, 2009 You can also go to Quarantine tab within MBAM and restore the file.

ThiefTMA Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53640 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I did the system restore, and now I have other problems. MSConfig is back, but it won't run properly; a command prompt window pops up for a second, then closes. Then nothing. I will look into this further, and start another post with relevant logs if I need more help. Thanks for everyone's help.
Jamin4u Posted February 5, 2009 Author ID:53645 Share Posted February 5, 2009 You could undo the system restore and run the system file checker.sfc /scannow/Scannow: Scans all protected system files immediately and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. This command may require access to the Windows installation source files. Are you sure your system is clean?
ThiefTMA Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53656 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I've tried the System File Checker already. It detected errors, but was unable to fix them either before or after system restore. And, no, I'm not sure my system is clean anymore. I haven't noticed any other problems, though, so like I said - I'll try some other things and if I still can't fix it, I'll post in a new thread with all of the appropriate logs.
