Point taken re starting new topic.
Re the installation on a second computer... If my old computer dies and I have to install mbam on a new one that would mean it wouldn't be able to be registered either wouldn't it? Surely I would be allowed to do that.
You can move MBAM to a new computer, it is a lifetime single computer license. Just take it off the previous one using mbam-clean. I noted you said that your version was 1.46, You should update to the newest version.

HP ordered to repair defective Pavilion Elite desktop PCs
By Ed Bott | January 4, 2012, 1:45pm PST
Summary: Do you own a high-end Pavilion Elite desktop PC from HP? If it’s suffered from blue screens or lockups, you might qualify for a free replacement, thanks to a court-ordered settlement now underway. But hurry, the clock runs out on March 1, 2012.

Someone a nasty name
A guy was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome.They were even after the first few holes. The second guy said, "We're about evenly matched, how about playing for five bucks a hole?" The first guy said that he wasn't much for betting, but agreed to the terms.The second guy won the remaining sixteen holes with ease. As they were walking off number eighteen, the second guy was busy counting his $80.00 and confessed that he was the pro at a neighboring course and liked to pick on suckers. The first fellow revealed that he was the Parish Priest.The pro was flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money. The Priest said, "You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings."The pro said, "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you? "The Priest said, "Well, you could come to Mass on Sunday and make a donation and, if you want to bring your mother and father along, I'll marry them.

It was snowing heavily and blowing to the point that visibility was almost zero when the little Blonde got off work. She made her way to her car and wondered how she was going to make it home. She sat in her car while it warmed up and thought about her situation. She finally remembered her daddy's advice that if she got caught in a blizzard she should wait for a snow-plow to come by and follow it. That way she would not get stuck in a snow drift.
This made her feel much better and sure enough in a little while a snow-plow went by and she started to follow it. As she followed the snow-plow she was feeling very smug as they continued and she was not having any problem with the blizzard conditions.
After an hour had passed, she was somewhat surprised when the snow-plow stopped and the driver got out and came back to her car and signaled for her to roll down her window. The snow-plow driver wanted to know if she was alright as she had been following him for a long time. She said that she was fine and told him of her daddy's advice to follow a snow-plow when caught in a blizzard.
The driver replied that it was OK with him and she could continue if she wanted, but he was done with the Wal-Mart parking lot, and was going over to Sears next.

I updated SAS and surfed in internet sites that install tracking cookies that their name is synonymous with the internet sites (and are therefore detectable).These cookies were identified in the computer with Windows XP SP2, but NOT in the computer with Windows 7.So, this isn't an XP issue... very weird.No one encountered such a problem ?
Hello and welcome to the forum Taxin,
What browsers are you using on the two computers? Any addons that restrict or block cookies on the Win 7 browser? Are you able to upgrade to SP 3 on your XP machine?

Hello Kiwilassie
To begin i suggest you do not use registry cleaners as they usually do not help and can certainly harm your computer.
It seems that you have two anti virus suites conflicting. If you wish to uninstall Norton it is best to run their uninstall tool as there may be problem leftovers if you only use the windows uninstall feature, available HERE
If you think your computer may be infected please follow the instructions found HERE
Best regards

Am wondering if some can explain how this works> action for peer-to-peer software ?
Thanks!
MBAM is asking if you wish to check for and remove P2P programs, check for and ignore, or do not show, which ever you prefer. For example, some folks may have kids or grandkids sneaking such programs onto their computer. (wink)

im using xp sp3, avira 2011, nis2012, zonealarm free. malwarebytes pro 1.51.2.1300. nis said something happened during scan: unauthorized access blocked (open token process) actor mbamservice.exe, target nis sec engine ccsvchst.exe
nis didnt like mbam and blocked it. bad nis. i rightclick mbam tray start update 5,85 mb % ok.
try updating again program_error_updating(403,0 HTTPStatusCode
i go to mbam site look in forum and all the problems here in this thread, norton internet security have been blocking mbam a lot in the recent history log. if i make an exception in nis and mbam updates i will be subject to freeze, hang nightmare to possibly.
i long didnt update ZA cuz it f*k things, very recently it updated itself and i was surprised it didnt f*k everthing. Earlier in 2011 avira antivirus wanted to update itself to 2012(with firewall), but i had to go back to 2011.
my current nis2011* is an upgraded/updated older install, but not the first 2012_offer from norton to upgrade cuz the first f*k everything up.
well i guess its mbams turn to run into the hang freeze/firewall issues zzzzz
I loved mbam back when i first installed it and it removed a lot of crap
Hello,
It appears that you are running both Avira and NIS together in real time. That may very well create problems as one should never run two real time AV's. It may be best if you deal with that issue first by disabling or uninstalling (use their removal tool if you uninstall) one of your AV's. Then run MBAM clean, following instructions and be sure to reboot when prompted or even if not prompted mbam-clean
Then temporarily disable your AV and download the latest version of MBAM from HERE and update.
Set exclusions in both MBAM and your AV found HERE then re-enable your AV.
If you use Zone alarm there may still be a problem. In this same thread AdvancedSetup has stated...... "If you're using Zone Alarm then you currently will need to disable our protection module until there is an update for Zone Alarm or a work around located. If you're not using Zone Alarm then the following has fixed the issue for almost every user that has posted an issue."
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you

"Trojans are "maleware" but that is a different subject "
Was a joke because you wrote "maleware" instead of malware and there are two kinds of trojans...
* The software kind
* The soft to wear kind which is "maleware"
BTW: I hate the term "geek"
:lol::lol:

Installed over previous version. No problems and quick scan time is the same at just over 4 minutes.

I have excluded the following folder in MSE:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware;
I have added the following folder to MBAM's Ignore List:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client
I believe you need to add more MBAM exclusions to MSE
Look HERE

Thanks Ron,
The function we used to have which showed a members current activity is also gone it seems, only shows on mouse over "newest member". Cannot tell if member is viewing own profile for example. Or perhaps i have missed something which would not be a new problem
Edited to add...
Member activity is shown by using online member function "view full list" or mousing over a member name on a post but awfully time consuming.
