  1. I tried version 6 today and for the first time i remember the download was slow and dodgy. Cancelled it and tried again which worked fine but i rolled back to version 5 a few minutes later after seeing there were issues with Java along with Norton safe search, some extensions and addons. I am quite ticked at FF over this. Expect you to update your browser and not tell that there will be old problems back again.

They seem to be going backward.

  2. Thanks, noknojon. I should have mentioned when I bypass the wireless router and use RJ45 only, up and downloads are as expected.

I've only scanned with HojackThis... nothing more. I was hoping someone here could guide me. I wasn't sure if I should make a post in the malware removal area with little evidence of malware.

Is there anything I can do to check the wireless router? It's a Linksys WRT54G v5 and several years old... do they just go bad? It has the latest version of firmware, 1.02.8.

Have you tried resetting your router to factory default?

  4. no, i mean is : now, i just have 1 machine (laptop) and use 1 malwarebytes pro, and i still have 2 serials for malwarebytes pro 1.51. can i use the serials for other machine (i don't know when the time i get new laptop again) when malwarebytes released new version ,such as 1.55 . i want 1.55 became pro , with use serials as i said at above??

The extra paid licenses you have are good for life, you can use them at any time and they will update to any new version when you use them. Be sure and save the license keys and ID numbers.

  5. People who are nervous about buying online should consider using a prepaid Visa card with only enough credit in it to purchase what they need. I know there is a cost involved but it is a tiny amount compared to what cost in money and hassle that a compromised credit card would be.

For sure at least wait for your helper to finish with you. These folks are true experts and would not wish to make any statements regarding your online safety until they are satisfied with the results of the scans and fixes.

  6. Hello Ellany,

Would you please post information about your computer brand, OS, etc?

If it is a Dell laptop from a few years back i know that they had issues with waking from sleep mode. Some were fixed with a BIOS revision.

    Edited to add.

I noted that you had posted in malware removal hijack this logs forum. If this problem arose after these issues you may have to return to that forum or ask that the thread be reopened if it is closed.

  7. Hello newbiegranny and :welcome:

Your paid version of MBAM is valid for one computer only. It is a lifetime license.

I have license's for all my computers (4) and believe it is the best security investment i have ever made. Although MBAM is not an anti virus replacement, it gives me peace of mind to know that i have the premium extra level of security in today's dangerous internet world.

  8. This guy is sitting at home alone when he

hears a knock on the front door.

There are two sheriff's deputies there; he

asks if there is a problem.

One of the deputies asks if he is married,

and if so, can he see a picture of his wife.

The guy says "sure " and shows him a picture

of his wife. The sheriff says,

"I'm sorry sir, but it looks like your

wife's been hit by a truck."

The guy says, " I know, but she has a great

personality and is an excellent cook. "

  9. Sorry to disillusion you, but when they were doing the "Street Mapping" thing in their vans in the country I live, right at the end, just as they were about to start packing up to leave, they got caught red-handed hacking into household Broadband loops and recording the traffic. What Google had'nt realised is that lot of very high-powered Geeks in this country had been espousing their deep suspicion of Google for many years, and these guys (who have a whole countrywide community) were very closely watching, and monitoring the Google vans with high-tech gear of their own. They caught Google red-handed with a mountain of proof, and there was a MASSIVE stink about it. Google could not come up with an explanation for their insidious behaviour.

Not disillusioned and not to defend Google, but in this country hacking of "secured" wireless would be a crime. Regarding intercepting of unsecured wireless, it would be difficult to prove criminal intent. Google particularly, would know that the majority of wireless networks are unsecured in many places. In the small city near me i could leave my laptop open on the seat of the vehicle and acquire several different unsecured networks in a one block area.;)

    Edited to add.........

    Breaking news

When a homeowner runs an open, unencrypted wireless network and Google sniffs the packets from that network, has wiretapping taken place? Or did the openness of the network remove the user's reasonable expectation of privacy?

Google's Street View project has enmeshed the company in litigation around the world, most notably over the company's data collection from WiFi networks its camera cars passed while doing their work. (Google has claimed that this was a mistake.) In the US, a host of class-action lawsuits over the practice have been consolidated into a single case, and the California federal judge overseeing it has just refused Google's motion to completely dismiss the case. Sniffing even open WiFi packets might indeed be wiretapping, he ruled.

  10. Contacted Dell, as my computer crashed...they took over control and installed Malwarebytes "Anti-Malware" this would only be useful for approximately 1 year...now the time is up for me and I really would like to purchase the same program and continue its use, However, I am not sure what download I have and what download I need to replace the one I have..which I REALLY like...!!!! Mike

    Hello Mike and :welcome:

If it was a purchased program (Malwarebytes pro) it is good for life. It it was the free version you need only click on the "purchase" button, or you can go HERE to purchase. $24.95 for a lifetime one computer license. The "Pro" version is a very good security investment.

  11. Good evening everyone,

Some time ago, on this site, I noticed information posted by MBAM, I believe, to the effect that FREE AV softwares, such as, AVAST! were recommended over the PAID-subscription AV's on the market. As I have noted myself, and via comments by other users, my current AV software, McAfee, (provided free by my ISP), is most definitely a system resource hog and is no doubt slowing down my system.

My questions are these: (1) - Would installing AVAST be both an effective AV program, and possibly not utilize system resources as much as McAfee?

    (2) - Can the AVAST program run concurrently with MBAM Pro [with both using real-time scanning] without creating major problems?

NOTE: I printed out a list of exclusion instructions applicable to using AVAST 6 (FREE) and MBAM from another place on this site.

Thank you for your time and any advice in this regard!

I do not believe that the Malwarebytes company position is reflected in what you read on this forum about paid AV software and free AV software. The discussions here reflect the opinions of members and some staff.

Personally i would say that you would be fine to go with Avast and MBAM pro, i know a large number of people who go that route and are very happy.

  12. Update: Feds bust international gangs distributing scareware products

Two Lativian citizens, dozens of computers seized as part of Operation Trident Tribunal

  13. They take one down, another guy's gonna pop up and continue the job. The police thinks they can play authority. There are no authorities on the Internet. Get used to it. Enjoy playing cyber police while you can, but Anonymous is going to win.

Your attitude really does not blend well with a security forum.

  14. Hello and :welcome:

Those IP's all originate in China and are known by MBAM to be malicious, that is why the blocking occurs.

As they are incoming and being blocked by Malwarebytes they do not represent a threat. This is unfortunately common, affecting many people, and there is not much you can do. Keeping your security software and windows updated is the best policy to prevent problems from these and other threats.

    Best regards
