  1. Hello again,

Thank you for providing the installer.

After analyzing the installer, the detection will stand for the time being for these reasons:

    1) The installer uses a download wrapper to install additional software

    2) The offered additional software through the download wrapper is declined on an opt-out basis

    3) After the software is installed, a popup is launched in the user's browser.

What is still unclear to me is what exactly this "Browser Assistant" does. Perhaps you could shed some light on this since you believe it is a false positive?

The whole front page of a Google search for "browser assistant realistic media inc" shows dozens of users complaining about getting hijacked by it without their knowledge or consent.

    Best regards,

  2. Hello Distraida1973,

Neither of those files are false positives.

Dozens of other vendors agree: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/694c856c724863054fa2339b1dfd75fc57b484aac4f8a238e2deaecb804d4e10/analysis/1555193610/

If you would still like to use that software, you are welcome to add the files to your personal exclusion list in MBAM, but we will not be making any changes to this detection at this time, to best protect our users.

    Best regards,

  3. Hello all,

Thank you for reaching out. We did determine that this software violated our PUP criteria. We have changed our database so that paid users like yourselves should not be getting flagged any longer. This change will be reflected in Malwarebytes within an hour or two.

If you have any further inquiries, please contact Malwarebytes Support.

In the meantime, feel free to Exclude detections in Malwarebytes for Windows v3 if you would like to stop seeing these detections.

  4. Hello,

This program is detected as PUP.Optional (or "Potentially Unwanted Program") because it displayed certain criteria that we describe as potentially unwanted. See here for more: https://www.malwarebytes.com/pup/

If you want to keep the program, please have MBAM ignore these detections (uncheck them when you see them, and click "Ignore Always" when prompted), and add the folders to MBAM's exclusion list.

If you represent the company and would like the program re-evaluated, please contact pup@malwarebytes.com from a company email address. All correspondence will proceed through there.

    Best regards,

  5. Hello blossom and welcome to the forums.

Our Research Team has been monitoring this application for some time and has decided to add detection based on triggers against our PUP detection criteria.
    https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2016/10/malwarebytes-gets-tougher-on-pups/

The detection is correct and not a false positive. We will continue monitoring this application and if we notice a change in the behavior we will review it again.

If for whatever reason you want to continue using Advanced SystemCare, you can simply uncheck the detections and click Next after a scan with MBAM, and the prompt will ask you if you want to "Ignore Once" or "Ignore Always". If you Ignore Always it won't be detected any more.

  6. Please see blender's response above if you have any further questions about this topic.

Due to the nature of the responses as of late, I'm locking this thread.

For all who come across this topic, unless the poster has "Malwarebytes Staff" in their signature, they are not a Malwarebytes employee.

  7. Dear DCE,

I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused you. We at Malwarebytes have taken a more aggressive stance on "PC optimizers" and the like. You can read more about this stance here: https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2016/10/malwarebytes-gets-tougher-on-pups/

I highly recommend working with our support team to ensure that all exclusions are set correctly and that all issues you are experiencing get resolved. Use this link to contact support: https://support.malwarebytes.com/?b_id=6400

Again we apologize for the inconvenience and are sure that our support team can help resolve this issue.  Please do not hesitate to ask if I can be of further assistance.

    Best regards,
