  1. Can anyone tell me what cassette decks had to do with these older computers? Seems very interesting...
  2. Excellent! I'm glad that you're not infected. Sounds like the re-install of Malwarebytes did the trick Just post back if that changes (it probably won't but it could happen), and I have another idea for you to try.
  3. That is strange. Have you had any infections recently?
  4. If you do not wish to use your administrator account to update Malwarebytes, all you do is right-click on the desktop icon and choose "Run as Administrator" and then you will be able to update
  5. If you are using XP or Windows 2000, you need to be logged onto an administrator account in order to update. If you are using the free version and are on Vista or 7, just right-click on the icon and choose Run As Administrator and you'll be able to update. If you are using the paid version, you can set Malwarebytes to automatically update from the administrator account, no matter what account type you are using at the time of update(s).
  6. Hi Castayr, and welcome to Malwarebytes Are you using the paid or the free version?
  7. I would NEVER store such a file online, even if I thought it was secure. If you must, obscure your social, etc... first... so it cannot be seen or recovered!
  8. Thank you for the extremely helpful and insightful information

  14. I've sent a message to an expert with a link to this thread I have personally had to uninstall and reinstall .net framework from my own machine 2-3 times. It was a pain and took me quite a while, lol. What I learned is that you should uninstall ALL of them in order... so uninstall 3.5, then 3.0, etc... and install them in order 1.1, 2.0, etc... What I did was uninstall them all in order, download the clean up tool, run the clean up tool, re-boot, then re-install all of the .net framework packages one by one, in order. I pretty much know exactly what to do since I've done it several times, but maybe something else is going on here, so you should wait for expert advice. Good luck!
