  2. Below is just a fun little chat I had with an HP rep over a customers Laptop.... Thought I would SHARE!! lol I love how I ended the conversation I was so fed up with him. UGH!! Brandon Beard : Computer begins to power on then immediately shuts off and repeats cycle infinitely. I need to know if the DV9000 Series extended warranty applies to this laptop [An agent will be with you shortly.] [You are now chatting with Vijak .] Vijak : Hello Brandon Vijak : Welcome to HP Total Care for HP notebooks. Vijak : Let me assist you in this regard. Vijak : Please confirm when you turn on the Notebook do you able to see the HP logo? Brandon Beard : no Brandon Beard : it does not post Vijak : Okay Vijak : I understand that when you turn on the Notebook .All the LED's are working fine but there is no display on the screen Vijak : Am I right? Brandon Beard : all LED's come on, then they go off after 1-2 seconds. then 2 seconds later they come back on and repeat Vijak : Okay Vijak : Since when are you experiencing this issue? Brandon Beard : it has been getting progressively worse. Before we were able to log into the pc after powering down, removing battery, etc. now it will not come up no matter what Vijak : Okay Vijak : Let us isolate the issue, whether the issue with the Notebook hardware or software .To isolate this, I request you to perform the Power drain Vijak : With an extensive use of the notebook, some times notebook would store some static charges which indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook. Brandon Beard : i have done this i shall try again tho if u must Vijak : I request you to use Power Drain procedure by following these steps: 1. Disconnect the AC Adapter. 2. Remove the Battery. 3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Vijak : 4. Reconnect the AC adapter and Battery. 5. Turn on the Notebook power. Vijak : PLease perform the above steps and let me know the result Brandon Beard : ok Brandon Beard : it still will not post Vijak : I regret to hear that Vijak : I suspect that it is hardware issue, there might be hardwar malfunction, Notebook should be diagnosis in our repair center so send the Notebook to HP for mail in repair .I would be glad to arrange the free mail in repair to your Notebook if your nOtebook is under warranty Vijak : Could you please provide me the Serial Number (eg: CNS34915MC) and Product Number (eg:DS542U) of your Notebook? You may find that on a sticker attached to the Bottom or top of the Notebook. Brandon Beard : the serial is XXXXXXXXXX The laptop is NOT under the original warranty. The DV9000 Series had an extended warranty for this same issue I am having. Thats why I asked you if this model DV9627CL was covered under that extended warranty Vijak : Please let me check your Notebook warranty status Vijak : May I have 3-4 minutes of your time while I check for your Notebook warranty status? Brandon Beard : ok, but i allready checked it i said Vijak : Please let me check Vijak : Please provide me the product number(p/n)of the Notebook. Vijak : The Product Number is a 6 to 7 digit alpha numeric number which will be there at the bottom of the Notebook on the Service Tag. Brandon Beard : GS723UA Vijak : Thank you for the information Vijak : Here is the weblink for NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver and Network Controller: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33411.exe Vijak : Sorry for the above typo Vijak : Thank you for your time and patience Brandon Beard : what? Vijak : As per our records your Notebook warranty has expired on 12/28/2008.So It's not possible to arrange the free mail in repair to your Notebook Brandon Beard : how is that going to help me? Brandon Beard : that link has nothing to do with me Vijak : Please ignore the weblink which I have provided above .It's mistakelly typed to you Brandon Beard : ok sorry Vijak : I apologise for the inconveniece caused to you. Brandon Beard : it is fine. Vijak : As per our records your Notebook warranty has expired on 12/28/2008.So It's not possible to arrange the free mail in repair to your Notebook Brandon Beard : but my original question is still not answered. 3. just wondering if MrOreo was banned or whatever lol. I noticed all traces of him except a quote or two have been eradicated from the face of the universe. once again, im JW
  4. I see that you have posted over in the HJT threads. Good choice Im sure someone will be there to help you in no time. CHEERS!
  5. the only reason I recommend doing a full scan is that the FULL scan will pick up any other TRACES of the viruses. It may very well be the TRACES that are causing the "respawn" But even if that does get rid of said TRACES, still post up ur HJT log in the HJT forums so they can better analyze it and then you can relax
  6. Well, I had a lady that came in and she had a pop up on screen (it was made to look like an XP popup....but it was in vista LOL ) Stating the A360 gimmick. I ran scans and such and it found some spyware and such, but not really any Trojans...So I don't think it means you HAVE the virus...I would still beware and update MBAM frequently and run scans now and then to be safe. Also be sure to keep using and updating AVAST (i see it in ur sig) It has helped me numerous times as well. Hope that helped some. I'm NO EXPERT compared to some, but Ive seen my fair share of this virus.
  7. hmmm...it may be something else "respawning" them at every boot...ive seen this before...I would either try running a full scan and checking again, or do the following... Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes.org If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve. 1. Please read and follow the instructions provided here: What do I do now? 2. If needed please post your logs in a NEW topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs 3. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum. * Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you. * Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming. * If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved. * Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback. * There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review * NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.
  8. MBAM is an awesome program! Im glad to see that I'm not the only one with success stories
  9. LOL ive heard that one b4....omg lol
  10. I had a customer put in her credit card info for that...and we she told me i got really silent on the phone....lol she said that it wouldnt accept it and so she closed it... I cleaned up her PC GOOD but I had her contact her credit card company just to be safe... that is still funny yet sad how easily someone falls for this...
  11. and as far as Spybot and Spywareblaster, I've found those both to be unreliable....anything they can find, MBAM does better, along with AVAST.... idk though, that is just my experience. Comodo SEEMS to do an ok job....hmmm
  12. hmmmm here comes my 2 cents again guys!!!! What I use at home is Firefox with the setting tweaked, AVAST, MBAM PAID, and Keyscrambler. Now the reason I have keyscrambler is because I play WoW and someone hacked my account. I kept changing the password and they kept getting it.... I then found this program which only works when your in IE and FF. (didn't solve my issue, but found it during my searches) I used some keyloggers that were free (lol) and it does indeed scramble the text as I type....it claims to do it down to the driver level...i don't know how true that is (if anyone has tested it, let me know) But that's what I use and it works awesome....FF, AVAST, MBAM, and Keyscrambler! if anyone has any suggestions for something to add to my arsenal, lemme know
  13. i agree too with the fact that most cleaners are bad. I too have used CCleaner and approve of it (having used it numerous times) but at this point, although it doesn't look to be too severe, I would still take this over to the HJT forums and at least have them analyze it.
  14. thats kinda what i was thinkin too, i was just waitin for a mod to pop in As I said, they didnt LOOK like false positives, and they didnt look critical either.
  15. just out of curiosity, was this a used, new, floor model, refurb computer?
  16. hmmm it does seem to have contracted some sort of virus..cant really tell from the pic (image shack is blocked at work so i cant enlarge it lol). I do notice that the top two are found in the system restore. hmmm. Maybe someone who can see it can help out lol They dont look like FP to me, but again, i cant see good
  17. as i usually recommend, try booting in safe mode ( reboot pc and hit F8 at start up for SAFE MODE ) and try to run it from there. Even try safe mode with networking to see if u can get updates. If that doesnt work, if you have a second pc, remove the hard drive and slave it to another pc and run a full scan with MBAM. just my 2 cents lemme know if that helps
  18. I concur with the above comments Although it is not at all essential to purchase this software, it helps those who develop it and strive so hard to keep up safe
  19. Understood. Thanks Exile! Ive read alot of posts on here and you are very helpful to everyone I hope that I can apply my knowledge to the forums and help in the battle against malware! XD
  20. I have a quick question for you guys...do you mind if I put my 2 cents in when people have questions? I know that compared to you guys, I am NO Expert, but I do have an excellent understanding of most of this...I love to help people out in every way possible, and this is just one more way that I can! I joined in the hopes that I could help the community out, so please let me know. I wont hijack threads, just give them the advice I would give anyone. Figured that asking first was the respectable thing to do Thank You!!!!
