is malware bytes working?

Recommended Posts

Hello and :welcome:

We do not normally allow downloads of malware samples here unless you are in the right group to do so, (ie. experts, trusted advisors, admins, mods, and those found to be contributors that provide samples). You can search google and I am sure in no time you will find something to download. Be ADVICED that doing so you run a HIGH risk of getting infected. Malware changes very rapidly and if the sample you happen to download is not yet detected by Malwarebytes you will have your work cut out for you removing the infections. Not recommended unless you know what you are doing.

As for testing the web-blocker feature see below.

IP Test Site

You can test your IP Protection/Web Blocker by going to a site that resides on Malwarebytes' own servers and is perfectly safe. The test address is iptest.malwarebytes.org.

Thanks for your reply. it is a shame there is no benign signature available for download, but i wont risk one from an uknown source.

I have just spent the day running a combination of mbytes, rkill and combofx, and am now confident that that machine is clean, however the virus infecting it was definately preventing mbytes from scanning, therefore i was hoping for an easy way of working out if the same effort was necesary on my other pc's. maybe you could suggest a route to help me? i am currently running online scans, but am not sure if these too could be compromised.

Many thanks for your excellent software, it has been of use on many occasions

  • Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer such as (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.

Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post.
