Slowly losing control of my computer.

Recommended Posts

Hi there MBAM staff, admins, and all the such. I tried to follow your pin in the "I'm infected" post, but my problem is so bad that I couldn't follow it. I downloaded GMER Rootkit Scanner, followed the instructions, clicked scan, and it crashed. Now it won't start just like everything else. So no logs are available.

So let me start from where I think things might have started, and hopefully you can derive some use from it to help me. Or direct me somewhere that can assist me as well.

I had AVG antivirus downloaded(2009 version I think but still updated). Then it didn't work. I received a message saying there was an error and so I uninstalled it, and downloaded AVG 2011, trial version. After this ran out I then tried to download AVG 2011 Free version, but I kept receiving a MSI error(Tried AVG remover and still nothing happened). So I looked for a new free virus scanner, and came across Panda cloud anti virus. I installed it just fine, scanned, it found a few viruses. During all this I had that Google redirect issue I kept reading about since I came here today. Panda never found whatever is redirecting my search. Well a couple days ago my computer started becoming a little funky.

I don't know if all these things are connected, but I'll go over them just incase. Youtube full screen no longer worked(still doesn't). My main browser, firefox, now says I no longer have permission to acess it, despite the fact that my account is an administrator. And now when I try to run any virus program(Pandacloud,MRT,MBAM, even the GMER program just before I started this topic) I get a message saying I don't have access to that file. It then states that I may not have appropriate permission. This seems to be spreading over my computer and so I am unsure how to go about this. It even has gone so far as to effect an online games .exe file so that now it also pops up the Permission message.

So thank you for your time and help in trying to figure out this topic.

Hello Xbot668 and welcome to Malwarebytes!

I am D-FRED-BROWN and I will be helping you. :)

Please print or save this topic: it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

-------------

Please do the following:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your Desktop.

NOTE: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed

There shouldn't be any scheduled antivirus scans running while the scan is being performed.

Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.

[*]Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.

[*]A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.

[*]Notepad will open with the results.

[*]Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.

[*]Close the program window, and delete the program from your Desktop.

-------------

Please download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

-------------

In your next reply, please include:

  • DDS logfile
  • checkup.txt

How is your computer running now?
