Blank desktop, hidden icons, un-closable malware window

A few days ago, I discovered my computer to have the same exact malware virus that I've had a few months ago. I used to just use malwarebytes and restore points to solve my problem, but I recently learned that restore points don't remove viruses; which might explain why it is the exact same malware. The desktop is blank except for the malware popup and the taskbar. I ran malware 3 times. Once in safe mode and twice normally. It found 4 items and quarantined them the first time, and 0 the other 2 times. I made sure malwarebytes was updated by using another computer. Each time I run malwarebytes it takes longer and longer from 30 minutes for a full scan to 4 hours. My computer is a windows xp.
