This may be irrelevant, but I was reading this thread a few minutes ago. When I got to message #49 from OldViking, I clicked on the image he had included to enlarge it, and I got a garish popup in a language I didn't immediately recognize. Rather than click on the X to close it (sometimes malware uses the normal X close to propagate more malware), I simply closed down my browser. It's possible that OldViking has malware on his computer, and that may be what is causing his problems. Perhaps this is not the case, but I very rarely get popups, and never when I click on an image in a trusted forum. I didn't (and won't) try to reproduce this, but i thought I'd mention it.

The popup you got was more than likely due to the image host chosen which has a ton of advertising that could easily have caused that.

Thanks for your explanation, Ron. I had feared that perhaps the image OldViking uploaded was infected, but what you say makes very good sense and is more likely.
