Malwarebytes real-time and MS Security Essentials

Good morning,

Dell Inspiron, Win XP, I.E. 8.0, MS Security Essentials, Malwarebytes ver. 1.50.1.1100

I downloaded MBAM last Friday and purchased the license on Sunday. I wasn't thinking at the time, that maybe there would be a conflict with having 2 real time scanners going.

In the last few days, I have seen no major problems regarding a conflict. However, today I noticed that Malwarebytes did not load in my systray. It is listed in Task Mgr processess.

My question-are these 2 programs compatible or should I revert back to the free version of MBAM and use only MSSE for my real time scanner.

It should be fine, but sometimes (especially with Windows XP) there are conflicts. I always enter exceptions to to avoid conflicts.

Please exclude the following files from your antivirus:

Boy you sure are challenging me-lol. I looked at your instructions on how to add these files and I guess I should just copy and paste your list from this page, one at a time into MSSE settings tab>excluded processes et al-right? There are more files listed in your other post. Should I do those too?

I did add the 'important' ones you listed and asked MBAM to 'start with Windows'. I restarted and the MBAM icon is back in my systray.

I will add the other files and processes when I get a chance to print the list. I am not connected to a printer where I am.

One thing I didn't understand was, 'Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:....' I'd appreciate it if you could explain that to this senior citizen.

If you can run Malwarebytes and perform updates there is no need to add the firewall section. MSE does not have a firewall with it so you should be good to go.
