Certain drivers have to be in place for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to work, and those drivers are put in place by the installer. Currently Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware needs to be installed through it's installer and run with Windows logged in normally to be most effective. Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted December 9, 2010 Root Admin ID:358855 Share Posted December 9, 2010 You can copy it to USB to use for installing or even install it to the USB drive but it is not stand alone, meaning it will not run if you just plug the USB into another computer and will quit working on the computer you installed on if you remove the USB drive.It is not a portable application. The program is part of a trio I use to solve just about ALL computer problems and would have been very helpful with my work laptop (which I'm not an administrator of) when it got nailed with an assault malware today. Not that it isn't possible but we have tens of thousands of corporate customers running the program in full file and web blocking protection mode along with anti-virus and we don't have any support calls for infections when run this way. We do have calls though all the time from corporate and consumer where they're either only running our free version or they're not running a fully updated Anti-Virus or they haven't kept our program up to date. The company I work for, despite my requests to use your program in conjunction with the protections they already have in place, does not use your program. Many members of this forum use SuperAntispyware. It, along with MBAM, are two apps highly rated by many IT outlets and users. The applauds, which occurred when SuperAntispyware introduced its portable version, can still be heard today. MBAM and SuperAntispyware make a great 1-2 punch, and the desire for a portable MBAM has only increased due to SuperAntispyware's portable release. I understand the licensing issue that would be created if MBAM Free had a portable version, since it would probably not take long for someone to 'create' a portable version of MBAM Pro. Obviously, there are features of MBAM Pro that are not part of MBAM Free, but if a portable version is released, applauds would last a long time. You need to use the Pro version in order to help prevent the infection in the first place. A USB version again is simply another tool to clean up the mess after the fact. You save so much time and effort by not having to try and clean up that mess and some infections like file infectors cannot easily be cleaned up after the fact.
