Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted June 24, 2008 Root Admin ID:21028 Share Posted June 24, 2008 It's possible (though unlikely since it's the only one listed) that this file has an Alternate Data Stream file attached to it or that it has destructive commands within it.Please open the file with Notepad and see if anything is in it. The computer is running very slow; but it is still running. If you restore it and look at it, you will probably find its size to be zero bytes, meaning a blank file anyways. If the system is slow it is more than likely due to some other issue on the system.AUTOEXEC.BAT WikipediaOn Windows NT and its derivatives, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, the equivalent file is called AUTOEXEC.NT and is located in the %SystemRoot%\system32 directory. The file is not used during the operating system boot process; it is executed when the MS-DOS environment is started, which occurs when an MS-DOS application is loaded. Kay Posted June 24, 2008 ID:21045 Share Posted June 24, 2008 The file has been deleted according to your log.So the restore button doesn't mean anything... I did go ahead and restore the file, updated MBAM and ran into some problems while doing the full scan. There was a problem with C:\$security (?) and I had a message to run CHKDSK which I did and a number of issues were taken care. The dialogue ran so fast that I could barely read it. I then ran MBAM on the quick scan and nothing showed up.Kay Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
