Hello!

First off thank you for the excellent software. I have used it for a while now with few issues. Yesterday, I ran an update and it said a new version had been downloaded and was ready to be installed. After the new version installed, it asked for a reboot. I clicked ok, and almost immediately I got a BSOD BAD POOL CALLER. I dont know for sure that mbam had anything to do with it, but it occurred after mbam asked for a reboot. After I got the computer up and running, I noticed mbam seemed to work just fine. Just for good measure, I uninstalled mbam and downloaded a fresh copy and installed it just in case there was a problem with the update from 1.44 to 1.45 that caused the bsod. So far no more problems so I hope it was just a temporary issue. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 with avira premium version 10, which also was a recent update. Just curious if anyone else has ever seen a bsod during update.

Thanks

I did have an issue myself with upgrading from Avira 9 to 10 and I did not have MBAM installed. Not sure what caused it and I'm sure it was a fluke. Maybe a full removal of Avira and MBAM and then reinstall both of them and setup any file exclusions that may be required.

Please do the following to see if it resolves the issue:

Windows XP:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or post to ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start vista-7-start.png button and select Control Panel
