Firefox Posted January 14, 2010 ID:184105 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Not sure how to ask this so here is my feeble attempt.OK we know that when a computer is infected, we are going to run Malwarebytes on it. We get it installed, update it, then we launch it. (assuming that the virus/malware let you launch it).We start a scan, and a few seconds later the MBAM.exe closes and you can no longer run it.Is there a way of making it where MBAM.exe can not be closed or end task unless it was generated by mbam.exe itself? Can that be done, or is it not even feasible. Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted January 14, 2010 Root Admin ID:184147 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Cannot be done. Once Malware is on the box it can control and kill anything it wants. If you notice it kills any of the AV products as well. The real key here is stopping it from getting on the box in the first place. That is what our Protection Module is designed to do. Serious Posted January 14, 2010 ID:184153 Share Posted January 14, 2010 You could always try ProcessGuard, i personally haven't tested but..
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted January 14, 2010 Root Admin ID:184156 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Malware can kill smss.exe (Session Management Subsystem) and kill the box if it wants to. So trying to prevent your application from being killed is not very feasible in the long run.Stopping it from getting on the box in the first place is much easier.
