DanielHendrycks Posted January 13, 2010 ID:183839 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Hi, is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware take advantage of the 64-Bit? I'm pretty sure it's not. Also, does making an application in the 64-bit type require a rewrite?
mountaintree16 Posted January 13, 2010 ID:183842 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Yes it does Daniel Please see the information page for Malwarebytes here:http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
GT500 Posted January 13, 2010 ID:183845 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Our protection module has components compiled as 64-bit binaries, which only install on 64-bit editions of Windows. The main application will probably remain 32-bit though.
mountaintree16 Posted January 13, 2010 ID:183850 Share Posted January 13, 2010 @ GT500Wait, so does the protection module fully work on 32 bit systems then?I'm confused.

GT500 Posted January 14, 2010 ID:183907 Share Posted January 14, 2010 The protection module fully works on every Windows OS from Windows 2000 forward both x86 and x64Yes, on 32-bit editions of Windows it installs 32-bit binaries for the protection module, and on 64-bit editions of Windows it installs 64-bit binaries for the protection module.mbamgui.exe is always 32-bit, as is mbam.exe. mountaintree16 Posted January 14, 2010 ID:183913 Share Posted January 14, 2010 @ GT500hehe I should have read your first reply a bit better.mbamgui.exe is always 32-bit, as is mbam.exe.Does that mean that they'll also work on 64 bit though?
GT500 Posted January 14, 2010 ID:183922 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Does that mean that they'll also work on 64 bit though?Yes. 64-bit editions of Windows have WoW64 (Windows on Windows 64-bit) which is a compatibility layer to allow 32-bit applications to run on 64-bit versions of Windows. It can seem a bit complicated, but it allows 32-bit applications to run in 32-bit mode on a 64-bit processor while a 64-bit operating system is running.
