My MBAM is being plagued by errors

Recommended Posts

My PC was infected with a fake security malware and I ran MBAM and it seemed to clean it out.

Being impressed with the software I decided to purchase the registration and get full time protection

Now the problem: After I entered the registration info and went to the "Protection" tab every time I

click the "Start Protection" button I receive these errors.

"[Create Service] failed to perform desired action. Error Code:1073"

(or)

"[Open Event] failed to perform desired action. Error Code:2"

(or)

"SHGetValue failed with error code:126"

I have tried to uninstall MBAM using the cleaner utility found on the support page and it erred out with "SHGetValue failed with error code:0"

When I reinstalled MBAM the MBAM.exe was nowhere to be found, I was able to get a copy of the .exe from another PC

and once I placed into c:\programs\malwarebytes folder I could run MBAM again but it still throws these errors up when

the realtime protection is enabled.

The MBAM icon never does appear it the tray.

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. It seems that my PC will no longer boot up in safe mode, I does boot in normal mode.

Win XP Home sp3

CA Anti Virus

Windows Firewall

Automatic Updates are "on"

Hello.

Please uninstall the software via Add\Remove Programs applet.

Reboot the system.

Then run this clean up tool and allow a reboot when prompted.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe

Then reinstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from the link below (downloads do not differ, registration with your ID & key activate the Pro features - this link generates any number of our 'official' download sites, not just malwarebytes.org):

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php

Pay close attention to the actual download link. Many download sites have big giant sponsored ads from other vendors of other types of software which may confuse you. That's how they make money, by placing these ads prominently so you see them first.

Ignore all 'Recommended' or 'Sponsored' downloads, these will be the ads.

See how it runs
