RJW2 Posted April 20 ID:1631526 Share Posted April 20 I just installed Malwarebytes 4.6.13 Trial version and in Trusted Advisor General Settings it says Firewall Protection is ON. I already had Norton 360 running it's Firewall, you can't have two Firewalls at same time correct? I don't see anywhere in Malwarebytes to turn the Firewall off? Solution David H. Lipman Posted April 20 Solution ID:1631528 Share Posted April 20 (edited) Malwarebytes does not implement a firewall application. It is merely stating the state of the Microsoft Built-In firewall is Enabled. Note that Binisoft is a Malwarebytes division and has the Windows Firewall Control (WFC) software. It is a front-end to the Microsoft Built-In firewall making it more easily controlled and managed by a Windows user. Reference: Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control (WFC) Edited April 20 by David H. Thanks, I had previously opened Windows 11 Security and looked under it's Firewall tab and it said: Status Unavailable, open Norton 360 for Information. Was a bit perplexed by the perception therein.
David H. Lipman Posted April 20 ID:1631531 Share Posted April 20 (edited) I can't relate to what Norton/Symantec may do. Perhaps it implements a firewall of its own and disables the Microsoft Built-In software and Malwarebytes just states it sees a firewall enabled. Edited April 20 by David H. Yes Norton does in fact implement it's own firewall and Windows Security yields it's firewall OFF while Norton is running. It's always been that way. But was a bit confused when I saw the Malwarebytes Trusted Advisor General Settings saying Firewall Protection ON. I now understand your explanation that MB Trusted Advisor is actually only stating a firewall is Enabled (by some Other process). But on it's own it appeared as if Malwarebytes was also implementing a Firewall also.
