  1. UPDATE: This appears to be a Windows Security setting, specifically the Reputation-based protection. This setting says it: Protects your device from malicious or potentially unwanted apps. Turn on or off. However in many cases it blocks apps the are OK and very useful especially as MS seems to be more leaning towards the S mode premise with proposded future updates along with advertisements that MS promotes. Just my opinion.
  2. Suspecting O&OShutup set the \MRT to not report, I changed these O&O Shutup settings Under Local Machine tab I unchecked->Disable App access to Diagnostic Info. Under Current User Tab I unchecked->Disable App access to Diagnostic Info. -- Then in registry editor at, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\MRT I cleared (deleted) the entry->DontReportInfectionInformation Leaving only the Default REQ_SZ Value not set. Also checked at, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MRT But it was already set only to Default Then I ran another MBam scan and got zero issues no PUPs No PUMs. To see if O&O Shutup was why ..\MRT was disabled, I ran O&O Shutup and again disabled app access to Diagnostic Info and then rebooted. But even after a reboot the aforesaid ..\MRT entry->DontReportInfectionInformation setting did not appear again in Registry. So I really don't know what or how it got set OFF prior. Maybe by delaying an update? In case I now have learned how to Add an exclusion as per, https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/detections/pum-optional(link is external) However from what I read of MS's aggresive blocking of 3rd party apps in proposed updates of Win11, the O&O Shutup does have some validity in premise IF the new update of Windows will even allow it to run.
  3. Well I found some good data on this forum on this at https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/246740-new-potentially-unwanted-modification-disablemrt I had searched previously for PUP and PUM and didn't find it. I should have searched the elongated Potentially Unwanted Modification.
  4. I have Norton 360 running on Windows 11. (I also posted this on Norton's forum but just thought someone here might also know) Today I had a phishing popup on Firefox browser, so I closed the browser and ran Norton full scan, it found nothing. I then downloaded the free MB trial and ran Malwarebytes, it found these two issues, -Scan Details- Registry Value: 2 PUM.Optional.DisableMRT, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\MRT|DONTREPORTINFECTIONINFORMATION, No Action By User, 7617, 676881, 1.0.83661, , ame, , , PUM.Optional.DisableMRT, HKLM\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\MRT|DONTREPORTINFECTIONINFORMATION, No Action By User, 7617, 676881, 1.0.83661, , ame, , , My question: Thinking maybe Norton 360 set these windows settings to OFF since Norton is now handling detections instead of Windows Security? Otherwise ust curious why or how these Registry settings got set to OFF?
  5. Yes Norton does in fact implement it's own firewall and Windows Security yields it's firewall OFF while Norton is running. It's always been that way. But was a bit confused when I saw the Malwarebytes Trusted Advisor General Settings saying Firewall Protection ON. I now understand your explanation that MB Trusted Advisor is actually only stating a firewall is Enabled (by some Other process). But on it's own it appeared as if Malwarebytes was also implementing a Firewall also.
  6. Thanks, I had previously opened Windows 11 Security and looked under it's Firewall tab and it said: Status Unavailable, open Norton 360 for Information. Was a bit perplexed by the perception therein.
  7. I just installed Malwarebytes 4.6.13 Trial version and in Trusted Advisor General Settings it says Firewall Protection is ON. I already had Norton 360 running it's Firewall, you can't have two Firewalls at same time correct? I don't see anywhere in Malwarebytes to turn the Firewall off?
  8. I have the same PUM.Optional.DisableMRT, HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\MRT|DONTREPORTINFECTIONINFORMATION, No Action By User, 7617, 676881, 1.0.83661, , ame, , , My question: Is this something that Norton sets OFF when Norton 360 is installed? If so then it's shut off is necessary for Norton to function in that capacity correct?
  9. Wow, looks like MalwareBytes forum is not that responsive either. The MalwareBytes app was (in the past) always a good app (except for the earlier auto upgrade requirement at purchase). But the aspect of not being able to communicate with them at all (no reply back in days since email I sent to sales) makes a purchase somewhat too abstract for me. I guess they make enough money doing business that way, but I will have to rule off as no purchase for me.
  10. This is my 1st post, new to this forum. I have a couple of simple questions. (1) Is there any way to stop that annoying popup the keeps showing every time I move to a new forum thread etc? It keeps saying, 'Would you like to receive notifications from this site?'. I decline every time and it gets in the way. (2) Every since Anti-Exploit came out I ran it on my laptop along with the free version of MalwareBytes. Recently I heard they dropped the auto renew requirement so I downloaded and installed the newest MalwareBytes. I had some questions on the purchase but Sales is 2 days out now on answering my email. But here's the thing I just noticed. Apparently in this new 3.0.X free version they took away Anti-Exploit. I.e. it's not free anymore, cause after I installed the 3.0.X it's gone. When I look at the Dashboard it say Exploit Protection is Premium Only. I'm a little disillusioned by not hearing from sales in 2 days now. I assume that the bought version is much faster starting than the EXTREMELY slow new free version ? Would like to hear any input good or bad on the current new bought version ?
