Strange bug of Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Edge - ticket 4568595

Recommended Posts

I suggest the following.

image.png.c3d1355b1668828e969c67a051b3c18b.pngIf you can not see the Browser Guard icon in the browser toolbar, click the puzzle icon and unhide or pin the icon.

If you're having issues with Malwarebytes Browser Guard you may want to try to update the program manually.

  • Click on the extension icon
  • Click the Kebab Menu -> then Support
  • Click the Check for database updates button
  • If still having an issue then click Clear Browser Guard Storage, Restart the Browser, and check for Database Updates again

@Porthos

Sorry for this long delay as I totally forgot about the thread here, but I already tried what you suggested, with no luck.

Anyway, here is a list of the installed extensions; I tried disabling it one by one to see if something changed, but with no luck.

Any advice about a potentially conflicting extension?

You did not state in your original post what is the issue. We do not have access to your ticket here on the forum.

Sorry about that.

The issue is that the Edge extension takes as high as over 10% of CPU while opening tabs and freezes Edge until the tabs are fully opened.

And it happens on every tab; more tabs opened, more CPU usage (about 3-4% per tab).

My guess is you are running too many extensions and one or more are conflicting.

I would disable all but Malwarebytes and restart the browser and check again.

Then turn on the others one at a time by importance and repeat till you find the culprit.

I thought the same thing, but I already tried that, and I couldn't find the source of the issue.

Maybe I need to try again, I don't know.

Did you restart the browser in between each time you activated one?

How was it with JUST Browser Guard enabled?

I restarted the browser every time, and I can say that I tried the Edge extension of a fresh Microsoft Edge Beta install with no issues.
