For decades I was a big Norton Antivirus Fan.

Why?

Norton Antivirus is lightweight on the Computer, even if that Computer did not have to much power.

Norton did earn Top-Points in AV-Test´s (av-test.org/pcmag.com and other´s).

Norton has plenty of option´s to play around with - but you don´t have to.

Norton has a quick reacting user-interface - you click the Norton tray icon and it open´s up - like booom.

Where is Malwarebytes now?

Malwarebytes is lightweight on the Computer, even if that Computer does not have to much power.

Malwarebytes has a quick reacting user-interface - you click the tray icon and it open´s up - in the speed of light.

What went wrong with Norton?

When you have a look in the Norton Forum you might see plenty of people complaining about the aggressive selling of stuff they have not bought yet.

For example: you buy Norton Antivirus standalone and then you receive pop ups telling you, to buy even more to be secure (like backup, vpn, browser security).

You can not switch them off and as a result, more and more people get really upset.

Dear Malwarebytes-Team,

you have an excellent Software that is on the top of the ladder - there is no reason for you to step down.

I hope you never think about going in a direction like norton goes right now.

Thanks @FetzBox22! We take our member feedback to heart and really appreciate both your positive and cautionary thoughts on the product. Your comments were shared internally yesterday and the engineering team was excited to hear your thoughts on the performance and responsiveness of the preview build.

Regarding upsell opportunities, rather than resorting to aggressive sales tactics, our goal is to raise awareness and educate users so that they may make their own informed decisions and tailor the solution to their specific needs. In other words, we want the voice of our product to be a "friendly and unbiased security advisor" while continuing to support working alongside our competition when installed on the same device. If we come across as a pushy salesperson, then we have failed on our mission.

In any case, your message was well heard and a great reminder of what the ideal user experience should be. Thanks so much for sharing!

- Aaron
