McAfee let nipavuyo.dll through, MBAM won't run, but HJT will

Recommended Posts

Last night, McAfee let nipavuyo.dll in, and my computer started acting weird. Mostly context-sensitive popups and slowdown. I ran a full scan with McAfee, updated my protection (there was no update to be had,), and found nothing wrong.

This morning, I downloaded and installed MBAM, but it won't run, saying that the .exe file is missing.

Several attempts to uninstall and reinstall it, even after downloading it again, produced the same result. At one point, MBAM started after installing, but then closed immediately, and when I tried to start it again, it gave the same result- the .exe was missing.

In the course of looking for help with that, or even while looking for MBAM to download it in the first place, McAfee let pihuyea.dll and tolilabasrundll32.exe in, and I'm concerned.

This is the result of the HijackThis Log; thanks in advance for taking the time to help me with this:

Hi,

1. Run HijackThis.

Click on Do a system scan only.

Place a checkmark next to these lines (if still present).

  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tolilabas] Rundll32.exe "c:\windows\system32\pihuyeha.dll",a
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: movemora.dll c:\windows\system32\nipavuyo.dll c:\windows\system32\pihuyeha.dll
    O21 - SSODL: nakinijur - {8728eef4-9e9e-4e53-b2a1-b08f19e35cf1} - c:\windows\system32\nipavuyo.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: wuhusimud - {1b1d6069-194e-4473-a7c2-c536ec6ee2a6} - c:\windows\system32\pihuyeha.dll

Then close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

2. Restart your computer.

3. Try to run MBAM. If it runs, please do a full scan and remove everything that has been found.

Post the logfile from MBAM in your next reply.

Also please post a new HijackThislog.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me.

Okay, in the space between my first post and now, I got MBAM to run (Installed it in Safe Mode), but the Quarantined files seem to only be visible when I am logged in as an administrator. Is this normal?

Since running MBAM, Windows has been telling me that my McAfee has been turned off, I haven't been able to turn it back on, and it won't update/fix itself when I use either of those functions

Here is the MBAM log from earlier this week:

Here is the new HJT log from this morning; none of the files you mentioned were there, as far as I can tell:

Hi,

Do you still have problems, except the problems with McAfee?

Please do the following too:

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives

[*]Click on My Computer under Scan.

[*]Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.

[*]You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....

[*]Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.

[*]Please post this log in your next reply.

If you need a tutorial, see here

Not that I can tell. There is a .exe that is running, Dot1XCfg.exe that I don't think was running before all this happened. It might have been, and it might be an ordinary Toshiba process, according to http://www.fileresearchcenter.com/search.h...p;search=Search.

Please do the following too:

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan. ...

The download keeps stopping without warning or explanation; Firefox closes silently. I've turned off as much of McAfee as I know how to turn off, but Firefox/Kaspersky seems to keep quitting.

Hi,

Ok, in that case the file is legit. :)

Do this please:

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan

  1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  2. Click the esetOnline.png button.
  3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)

    1. Click on esetSmartInstall.png to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    2. Double click on the esetSmartInstallDesktopIcon.png icon on your desktop.

    3. Check esetAcceptTerms.png
    4. Click the esetStart.png button.
    5. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
    6. Check esetScanArchives.png
    7. Push the Start button.
    8. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
    9. When the scan completes, push esetListThreats.png
    10. Push esetExport.png, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
    11. Push the esetBack.png button.
    12. Push esetFinish.png

The scan completed after I left the room, all I have is a screen recommending that I install Smart Security or NOD32 Antivirus. :) There were no buttons to press or anything.

At the same time, it got to about 85 percent and had not detected any threats while I was gone...

I'm also not sure how I can run it again without installing it again (doesn't sound like a good idea), nor am I sure where it actually installed to.

Thanks for all your help so far.
