Hi,

Please go to VirusTotal, and upload the following file for analysis:

c:\windows\system32\1041e.exe

c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\SeekeenSrch\seekeen155.exe

Post the results in your reply.

Next, please use the Internet Explorer browser and click here to use the F-Secure Online Scanner.

  • Click Start Scanning.
  • You should get a notification bar (on top) to install the ActiveX control.
  • Click on it and select to install the ActiveX.
  • Once the ActiveX is installed, you should accept the License terms by clicking OK below to start the scan.
  • In case you are having problems with installing the ActiveX/starting the scan, please read here.
  • Click the Full System Scan button.
  • It will start to download scanner components and databases. This can take a while.
  • The main scan will start.
  • Once the scan has finished scanning, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • The cleaning can take a while, so please be patient.
  • Then click the Show report button and Copy/Paste what is present under results in your next reply.

Next, download my Security Check from here or here.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Let me know how things are running now and what issues remain.

Hi,

Navigate to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs, and uninstall the following programs (if present):

CyberArmor

SeekeenSrch

Restart your computer.

Please delete your copy of ComboFix, download the latest version from here, and save it to your Desktop. Do not run it yet.

Next, please open Notepad. Copy and paste the text in the Code box below into Notepad:

Save this as CFScript.txt

CFScriptB-4.gif

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

**Note**

When CF finishes running, the ComboFix log will open along with a message box--do not be alarmed. With the above script, ComboFix will capture files to submit for analysis.

  • Ensure you are connected to the internet and click OK on the message box.

I think I did everything correctly but I didn't get the message box you mentioned in your note, hopefully it's not a major problem.

Delete your copy of ComboFix, download a fresh copy, and run it; post its log.

It's no surprise you were reinfected; we need to get some protection programs installed.

It is really dangerous to go online without an antivirus. Without one, you are extremely likely to get infected and the consequences could be even worse next time. All of the following are excellent free antiviruses. Be sure to only install one.

avast!

AntiVir

AVG

Also, it is vital that you have a firewall. The one that comes with Windows XP is not sufficient in that it only checks incoming data. I recommend selecting one of the following free firewalls. Be sure to only install one.

Kerio

Comodo

Hi,

Things are looking good.

I can't post the F-Secure log because when the scan reaches 100% it shuts down and tells me that a database is corrupted, I've run it a few times and it gives me the same error. Everything is running fine now except that my Google search results are still being hijacked.

Hi,

Please delete your copy of ComboFix, download the latest version from here, and save it to your Desktop. Do not run it yet.

Next, please open Notepad. Copy and paste the text in the Code box below into Notepad:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=21972
Collect::
c:\windows\system32\B22327DAE92BEBA3.exe
c:\windows\system32\brastia.exe
REGISTRY::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"B22327DAE92BEBA3"=-
"brastia"=-

See if you're still getting redirected now.

It seems like I have some viruses messing with ComboFix, when I drag the file into ComboFix it loads and I get a bunch of virus notifications from Comodo and then ComboFix closes down and gives me this error:

"Windows cannot fine '32788R22FWJFW\iexplorer.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

I get that same error a couple dozen times in a row but sometimes the file name changes to '\n.pif' or '\hidec.exe'.

I got a fresh copy of ComboFix and disabled Comodo and tried again. ComboFix loaded and then I got another series of errors that said:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

and the file names it displays in the top left corner of the error box are similar to the ones I posted in my last reply.
