Virus harmed my CPU speed

Recommended Posts

Hi I recently had to reformat my hard drives to get rid of what I had. My computer seems to be running better from what it was before I had to delete everything but I noticed that I've lost at least 0.2 GHz speed. My CPU used to be able to easily stay above 4 GHz, on average it was around 4.2 GHz. When the virus hit it went down to 2.4 GHz whenever I would run anything and now after reformatting and reinstalling windows the highest it will go is 4 GHz. Was just hoping to see if you could still find any traces of the virus or if had just changed settings in my system, thank you.

Hello @casiodirect and :welcome:

I would recommend trying Windows Defender. On Windows 10 it is a very robust antivirus that is built-in.

You're system does not appear to be infected but is having some issue logged in the Event Logs.

I would recommend testing, reviewing your actual true speed from the UEFI/BIOS settings

Thanks
