Hi    :welcome:

Hi,
You seem to indicate that this behavior started just a few days ago.
By the way, as a temporary measure, my first instinct would be to select the first button-option  "shut down anyway".

I would suggest new clean re-install of Malwarebytes.
Uninstall and reinstall using the Malwarebytes Support Tool

Cheers,

Hi @Teta,

You mentioned this issue only first started occurring a few days ago. Were any significant changes made to the computer around this time?
Your current Malwarebytes installation was installed 2 days ago. Which version did you have installed prior to this?
Does this occur each time you try to shut down the machine or is it sporadic?

Here are a few different troubleshooting steps to try. This will hopefully narrow down the cause of the issue on your machine.
After trying each, check if the issue still occurs and let us know the results.

Disable Self-Protection

  • Open Malwarebytes.
  • Click Settings.
  • Click Protection.
  • Scroll down to Startup Options and turn the Self-Protection module setting off.
  • Attempt to shut down the computer.

Disable Fast Startup

Clean Boot

  • Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard at the same time. Type msconfig and click OK.
  • On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, select the Hide all Microsoft services check box.
  • Click Disable all.
  • Scroll through the list and look for Malwarebytes Service. Place a checkmark next to this.
  • On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click Open Task Manager.
  • On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
  • Close Task Manager.
  • On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click OK and then restart the computer.
  • Log back into your normal user account.
  • Wait for the Malwarebytes notification area/system tray icon to appear and then attempt to shut the computer down.

Hi LiquidTension,

i can´t remember doing anything unusual with this comp, that could trigger this behaviour. And as this is a fairly new comp (about 1 month old, had to buy a new one), i installed the version of malwarebytes, that you gave out in April :) Not sure, which it was, but if YOU didn´t put out any new version in the meantime, then  i had installed the same version, that is running now (and became buggy somehow).

The installation from the weekend happened, because your automated answer suggested, that i should try to repair/reinstall Malwarebytes via your support tool, linked in that automated answer. Didn´t change anything. however, this bug started about one week ago.

Also i tried all of your suggestions, nothing changed, MB Tray application still interrupts the shutdown.

The only ciritcal changes could happen via Windows 10 autoupdating itself and installing something weird, as i have no control over this. And yeah, i remember, that it changed and installed/updated some of its Microsoft programs, but i have no clue, which ones.

The only thing, that i can remember, that i installed, was my graphics tablet drivers, to use my graphic tablet with this PC. You can find them here:

http://bosto-tablet.com/support/download/

The BOSTO-3.4.3_20140402.zip (pro tip, don´t even think of buying one of those tablets... there is no support, and there is no guarantee, that your tablet will run, even after you installed those drivers, go to a different company).

Maybe something changes, if i uninstall them. Testing...

Ok, did some tests, and it had indeed to do with my tablet drivers, however, it wasn´t their fault, they just trigger Win10 to also activate the onscreen keyboard for whatever reason. This onscreen keyboard was officially turned off, just popped up during starting up, then vanishing, showed up as "off" in the settings, so i didn´t mind.

Turned out, after officially turning this onscreen keyboard officially on, and then off again, solved the problem :) No more interruptions during shutdown, everything is fine again. Also that onscreen keyboard disappeared in startup too. So it was just jammed somehow, and it jammed MB Tray application too, for even more unknown reasons...

Have a spendid day, or night, depending on your time zone.
