Unable to connect the Service.

Recommended Posts

Last night Malwarebytes started turning off web protection.  Woke up this morning and it was fine.  Then a bit later on the same pop up saying real time protection is turned off.  I exited Malwarebytes and tried to start the program again and now its says it cannot connect.  I restarted my PC and it's still giving me this error.

Mine is currently working correctly as long as I keep the program open.  If I hit the X to send it only to the taskbar it eventually tells me Web Protection has been turned off.  When I try to open Malwarebytes after that, the program will not open.  I have to end task in Task Manager and then start Malwarebytes again.

Thanks @Casepb, your logs show a different issue than the one from @JMAR above, and I believe it's because there's an update available for your installed version of MB3. Both of you will probably benefit from running the Malwarebytes Support Tool and doing a clean install. Instructions for that are below:

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool.
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced Options.
  3. Click Clean and reboot when prompted.
  4. After rebooting, the Malwarebytes Support Tool should launch again and finish cleaning up.
  5. Click Yes when prompted to reinstall.
