"Unable to load anti-rootkit driver - redux"

EdP

Recommended Posts

Using Win 7 Home Premium SP1; MBAM Premium 3.3.1

On 1/30/18 I posted that MBAM would display the following message whenever it was invoked.
...........................
Malwarebytes is unable to load the Anti-Rootkit DDA Driver.
This error may be due to rootkit activity. We recommend rebooting so Malwarebytes can attempt to install the driver.
Do you want to reboot now?
..........................

I was asked to run FRST to supply logs, but the problem went away, so I didn't bother running it.
Since then the message has been occurring randomly - today for example.

The original topic is closed, so I'm attaching the logs here.

Thanks,
EdP

Hello @EdP

The logs show that your Webroot antivirus is crashing often and some other errors as well.

I would recommend that you uninstall Webroot antivirus. Then restart the computer.
Then reinstall Webroot antivirus.

Next, do an MB-Clean removal of Malwarebytes

Once you have Malwarebytes reinstalled then setup exclusions for Webroot and Malwarebytes to ensure neither one are blocking each other.

How-To: Malwarebytes 3 files to be set as exclusions in other security software.

See the following post for potential assistance with setting up exclusions in Webroot antivirus

You can also review this topic. It's for Microsoft Defender, but lists updated files you may need to add as well for Webroot
https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/200162-exclusions-for-windows-defender-users/

Once all is done then please restart the computer one more time and see if all is working well now and if you can do customs rootkit scans now and let me know.

Thanks

Ron
