Protection layers off - computer freezing

Recommended Posts

When I came to my computer this morning I found an mbam window telling me that one or more real time layers were turned off. There was an option to "Turn On" which I clicked and the window disappeared. But my computer was frozen. Nothing was functional -- including the start button. When I clicked on the little arrow to show hidden items in task bar it was dead. Everything totally unresponsive. So, I forced a shutdown.

Computer booted up ok so I logged in and left it to load while I did another chore. I came back to the same situation as described above. So I again forced a shutdown. I restarted, logged in and waited this time. The mbam window about layers being off came up again. I clicked to turn on again. I opened by browser right away and had lots of trouble with it not wanting to load, not wanting to load this page, but it finally opened.

I tried clicked the arrow to show hidden task bar items and it finally opened and once again shows the mbam icon with the red triangle. I tried opening mbam but it would not open and now all buttons on the computer are frozen again so I don't know if I will be able to post this or not. I'm going to try right now and see what happens. Then, it looks like I will have to force another shutdown.

I'm going to my laptop now and hope I'm not having the same problems on that machine.

I just tried logging into one of my shopping sites and the timer went round and round and finally told me the page is unresponsive and asked if I wanted to wait or stop. I'm trying to show hidden icons and it won't open and now I'm getting a sign that microsoft windows is unresponsive and asking me if I want to end the program. HELP!

So far I'm able to retain this page and want to ad that all my taskbar icons have disappeared. Everything gone and I assume the same is probably true of my desktop.

I just clicked on the link to download FRST and it's just showing Loading ... and not doing anything. I'm fairly certain it's not going to open.

I can't download either of the tools you have instructed below so I guess I will end this now and go check the laptop.
