Can't get Malwarebytes 3.2.2.2029 to uninstall-Missing unins000.msg file!

Recommended Posts

I upgraded my free Malwarebytes 2.0 (something) to 3.2.2.2029 recently, and was offered a trial version which I accepted.  Then after the trial version expired, I tried to reinstall my earlier version of Malwarebytes that worked with my stand-alone version of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.  When I tried to uninstall the 3.2.2.2029 version I got this error message:  "Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\unins000.msg", and the program refuses to uninstall.  I've tried doing 2 system restores to get that uninstall file back to no avail.  Now the program refuses to open, and I even tried installing an earlier version of it, also to no avail.

How to get this unins000.msg file to get the program up and running again?  It's still installed on my PC, according to Add/Remove programs, and is in Program files.  Also trield Malwarebytes uninstall utility which didn't work either!  I need help from someone knowledgeable in order to get this version up and running again so I can order the Premium Version after running the trial in order to keep the Anti-Exploit part of the update. Running WIN 7 PRO, SP 1  Anybody........(?)  :(

Let us get a clean install of the current version. 3.3.1

We have another tool called MB-Clean which will automate the whole process for you.

Tool can be found at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

1. After downloading the tool run the tool.

2. The tool will automatically clean up the older possibly damaged installation and will ask you for a restart.

3. Restart your system and then the MB-Clean tool will prompt you to re-install the latest product .

4. Click on "Yes" to reinstall MB 3.×.

5. Now you will have the latest product installed. If it does not offer the new install after the reboot you can download and install from here.

Please let me know if you are still seeing issues after the latest product install.

I tried this already and it didn't work!  I'm so sad...I think I'm going to lose this program....... :(  I tried the MB Clean tool and the new 3.3.2.2029 version wouldn't install, just kept looping.... Then I tried your earlier version 3.3.1 and had the same problem!

Sadly,

It installed this time, and I can't thank you enough!

However, directly BEFORE it installed, I got the following error message: "Please locate the mb-clean-results.txt file on your desktop and attach it to your support request for further assistance"  OK box, which I clicked on!  What does this mean, and is there something more I should do???  What support request and where???  I keep receiving this message and don't know what to do about it!

You posted a list of exclusions to be added to the Malwarebytes "Exclusion List".  How do I know if I need to add any of these to it?  I'm running McAfee Total Protection's complete paid program, their firewall, etc. and have already added 2 of their files to the exclusion list i.e., C:\Program Files\McAfee and C:\Program files\McAfee.com, which I've always had to add in order to keep McAfee from interfering with Malwarebytes' running.  Also, 2 Malwarebytes are added to the McAfee Firewall's list of accessible programs.  I've no idea what those others you've listed are?!

Sorry, when I checked it out, there was too much personal info on my desktop to show it on a public forum.  But - it's short and in its title bar it states: "Malwarebytes Clean-Up Utility"  and the rest of it is, ""Please locate the mb-clean-results.txt file on your desktop and attach it to your support request for further assistance"  OK box, which I clicked on!
