Walker Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6679 Share Posted July 27, 2007 Upgrading the program with the inbuilt updater works pretty good,When using the inbuilt updater and its starts an installation of the new version, it places a new desktop icon and also a new start menu folder.I would like it to just replace the necessary items in the Malwarebytes folder.Reason is i always delete the desktop icons and i use tidy start menu to alter my start menu. Also is it possible to make an option to only scan fixed disks in the full scan?I haven't got an FP in some time now.Like the progress
nosirrah Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6680 Share Posted July 27, 2007 Only certain files cause this ? Walker Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6691 Share Posted July 27, 2007 Yep the new version goes in the same folder, but i have moved the entry in the start menu.normally it is start > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > etcI have start > Anti Malware > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > etcbut when i upgrade with the inbuild updater it installs at default so i have two entries in the start menu. JeanInMontana Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6694 Share Posted July 27, 2007 That isn't the programs fault, any program you do that with is going to do the same thing I would bet. If your choosing to add an entry to the start menu at install it is going to choose the default location. How would it know you have created a new category? Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted July 27, 2007 Author Root Admin ID:6695 Share Posted July 27, 2007 I'll just add an option to add start menu and desktop shortcuts.
JeanInMontana Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6696 Share Posted July 27, 2007 I'll just add an option to add start menu and desktop shortcuts. That's always a nice choice to have. Depending on the program I mix and match, some only get start menu.
Walker Posted July 27, 2007 ID:6700 Share Posted July 27, 2007 I agree it isn't the programs fault all installers do that, but updaters don't and that was the point. An option in the installer to add start menu and desktop shortcuts will help. Thanks both Rubber Ducky and JeanInMontana
ipl_001 Posted July 28, 2007 ID:6701 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Hi Marcin, hi everyone,I'll just add an option to add start menu and desktop shortcuts. Why not QuickLaunch as well?Just kidding

Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted July 28, 2007 Author Root Admin ID:6703 Share Posted July 28, 2007 New installer allows optional creation of all 3 shortcuts.1. Desktop2. Start menu3. Quick launchIt also features the change log during installation.Yes, please! and maybe other options as well??? if you have a good reason not to do that, there will be no prob!I added the ability to save/restore all settings in version 0.58. I don't see a need to save a setting which is easily changed by the user (i.e. Quick scan/Full scan option)Yes, as far as I know the Cancel option is usually on the right.I removed the cancel button. It was an extra control.. I am trying to make this program as small as possible =).
Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted July 28, 2007 Author Root Admin ID:6704 Share Posted July 28, 2007 I removed the family list. It was very bloated and required a lot of CPU usage to process the amount of vendors we detect. We will post the vendor lists (sorted) on our website.
