save settings to a .ini file

having recently upgraded to v3.0.0 and customising my settings, I had to do it again with the recent v3.0.4 update.

any chance there can be an option to save your settings to an .INI file?

We do currently store settings in an encrypted configuration file, however these can sometimes be overwritten by an application update, especially when the update is designed to correct an issue caused by one or more of those files becoming corrupted as was the case with one of our recent issues (the problem where the program would be stuck checking for updates constantly), but normally those settings will be saved so that you don't have to change them again after an upgrade.

My only reservation with regards to storing settings in a standard INI file would be that doing so would allow malware to read and possibly modify such a file, thus potentially changing one or more settings that might result in that malware not being detected by our engine.  For example, if the threat were able to modify exclusions or scan settings or even protection settings that could be a real issue.  That's why we instead store them in an encrypted format, but they are still stored on disk so that you can create a backup of them manually if you so choose, just be aware that some scenarios may arise which require us to overwrite older settings files with newer ones as was the case with the issue I mentioned with updating.
