MB Win10 CPU 100%

Recommended Posts

I did the upgrade path to Windows 10.

I've been having complete system hard boots required every few days.  To try and combat this I left task manager running- and saw MB was running a scan (not scheduled) and consuming 60-85% of the CPU.  Killed the process (which in its own right is a PITA), then saw the service start consuming 95% of the CPU.   Had to hard boot.

What do I need to provide to help narrow down this issue?  I'm more than willing to uninstall the prem license to get the software not to start and see if I'm good after a few days, but having to hit the hard reset to keep the computer functional (net, commands, shutdown, etc) is not a path I'd like to continue.

Is there logs I can provide before doing this?

Thanks in advance-

~j

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes :)

After a Windows 10 upgrade, sometimes that corrupts the Malwarebytes installation, so a reinstall would be helpful, see below.

Let's try this first....

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs(the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about v2.2.0 HERE; User Guide ONLINE; User Guide PDF; FAQ: Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,
