Embedded database just over 10GB - can't use MBAM

Recommended Posts

I received two alerts about the size of the embedded database . The 1st alert was:

Embedded database size is near the limit. 10.00GB of 10.00GB is in use. Please consider to reduce the data amount or upgrade to standard SQL server.

The 2nd alert was:

Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.TBL_Policy'.'PK_TBL_Policy' in database 'C:\PROGRAM FILES 9X86)\MALWAREBYTES ENTERPRISE EDITION\APP_DATA\SCDB.MDF' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

It seems that I am now locked out of my Malwarebyte console. I'm looking for suggestions to resolve.

I received this answer from Dyllon a Product Support Specialist -

the embedded DB uses SQL Express. SQL Express free licensing from Microsoft prohibits any DB’s over 10gb. When you were nearing your limit we could’ve cleaned up the DB to save space but once you are past this limit, your DB is locked out permanently. You will not be able to use it, nor would you be able to connect and convert this DB to a full version of SQL. If you decide to keep the SQL Express embedded, you will need to delete the DB files, reinstall the server application and redeploy to your endpoints. If you decide to convert to a full SQL we can help you copy over the tables (since you cannot outright convert an overlimit Express to full) to preserve your data.

I will be removing the DB files, reinstalling the server app and continuing with the embedded database. Next go'round, there will be a file size monitor on the DB!
