ScorpionSaver and Another Virus I Suspect?

Hello,

 

  For about two weeks I've been struggling to remove ScorpionSaver from my computer.  I first noticed it when ads were popping up on Internet Explorer, I deleted it from my Control Panel and it was gone for a few days only to return.  I cannot delete it from my Control Panel anymore so I used MalwareBytes,after it was still there so I went and followed some steps from this forum, but it showed up yet again today, now it's on my ad ons list and there was a file in my Program Files. I am running MalwareBytles again at the moment to see what comes up.

 

 It takes awhile because I do have a lot of files on my computer.  I know there is more problems on my computer because I have an issue of some words on Internet Explorer turning into random links.  I don't know what this virus is called but it has been there for months and I've just avoided it.

 

I would greatly appreciate any help, I've done so many solutions but they just aren't sticking.  Some instructions would be great, but I am not so intelligent computer issue wise so  really detailed explanations would be great.  Thank you.

P2P/Piracy Warning:

 

   

If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent, BitTorrent or similar you must either fully uninstall them or completely disable them from running while being assisted here.

Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided.

If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now and read the policy on Piracy.

 

Next,

 

Check if ScorpionSaver appears in the installed programs list, if so see if it will UNinstall. Use Revo Uninstaller if necessary:

 

Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free

 

  • Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
  • From the list of programs double click on The Program to remove
  • When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
  • Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
  • The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
  • When the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next.
  • Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
  • Check/tick the bolded items only on the list then click Delete
  • When prompted click on Yes and then on next.
  • Put a check on any folders that are found and select delete
  • When prompted select yes then on next
  • Once done click Finish.

 

Next,

 

Run Malwarebytes,  Open > Settings Tab > Scanner Settings > Under action for PUP > Select: Show in Results List and Check for removal.

Please Update and run a Quick Scan

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected on any found items.

 

Next,

 

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ and save to your Desktop.

 

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
  • When it's done you'll see: Pending: Uncheck any elements you don't want removed.
  • Now click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
  • Look over the log especially under Files/Folders for any program you want to save.
  • If there's a program you want to save, just uncheck it from AdwCleaner.
  • If you're not sure, post the log for review.
  • If you're ready to clean it all up.....click the Clean button.
  • After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[s0].txt) will open automatically.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
  • A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.
  • Items that are deleted are moved to the Quarantine Folder: C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine
  • To restore an item that has been deleted (if necessary):
  • Go to Tools > Quarantine Manager > check what you want restored > now click on Restore.

 

Post the produced logs....

Do you want me to go ahead and remove the found files with malwarbytes before, that I found, or just leave it.

 

Also I click ScorpionSaver and halfway through uninstalling it I got a message saying

 

"Could not delete Key /Software/Wow6432Node/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/BrowserHelper Objects.  Verify that you have sufficient access to that kep, or contact your support personnel" 

 

The 'retry' button wouldn't work so I clicked Ignore and it continued.  Was that ok to do?

Download OTM from either of the following links and save to your Desktop: (If your security alerts to OTM, either accept the alert or turn off security to allow OTM to run)

Double click OTM.exe to start the tool. Vista or Windows 7 users accepy UAC alert. Be aware all processes will be stopped during run, also Desktop will disappear, this will be put back on completion.... If your security alerts to OTM either, accept the alert or turn off security until OTM completes...

  • Copy the text from the code box belowbelow to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy). Ensure to start with and include the colon before Reg :Reg

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red btnmoveit.png button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTM


Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

If the machine reboots, the Results log can be found here:

c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log

Where mmddyyyy_hhmmss is the date of the tool run.
 

Next,

 

Run Malwarebytes,  Open > Settings Tab > Scanner Settings > Under action for PUP > Select: Show in Results List and Check for removal.

Please Update and run a Quick Scan

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected on any found items.

Is it ok that it's didn't ask?  It just automatically shut down and the results popped up when it restarted.

Ok I think it is. I don't see it in the Control Panel of on the ad-ons.  Is it alright to keep this topic open for at the lest 4 days?  That's usually how long it took before it showed back up.  If it does or doesn't I will post but for now it's gone.  Thank you so much for taking the time to help me! It's greatly appreciated.  Here's hoping it's gone for good.
