Please run the AdwCleaner tool again but this time after the scan click on the CLEAN button.

Please Run TFC by OldTimer to clear temporary files:

  • Download TFC from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Close any open programs and Internet browsers.
  • Double click TFC.exe to run it on XP (for Vista and Windows 7 right click and choose "Run as administrator") and once it opens click on the Start button on the lower left of the program to allow it to begin cleaning.
  • Please be patient as clearing out temp files may take a while.
  • Once it completes you may be prompted to restart your computer, please do so.
  • Once it's finished you may delete TFC.exe from your desktop or save it for later use for the cleaning of temporary files.
Then restart the computer and let me know how the computer is running now.

Ok I did these things though all this stuff we did has made me have some issues I never had with a pc before, and I'm not gonna reinstall windows cause I never did such a thing and don't wish to with not knowing how to re-setup everything I use. My recording software has had issues it's never had before like it sometimes tells me audio files I made are corrupted, and recordings I really need are now corrupted and lost. It won't fully close when I exit out of the program and have the same problem with firefox where I have to manually eliminate the processes through my task manager. The imacros doesn't work like it used from setting it up exactly the same. The main thing was getting MSE to install and that hasn't been able to be accomplished unfortunately..

Well your computer didn't have an infection before either and unfortunately it has screwed things up.  As I've said I'm trying to assist in repairing the damage.

I realize and understand your frustration and can empathize with you but the fact is that reinstalling Windows might be in order.  You could also take the computer to a local repair shop and have them fix the computer, or we can continue to try and fix it.  Please let me know what you'd like to do or how you'd like to proceed.  We can continue to try to fix the damage or if you have an external USB hard drive to backup your data I can assist you in reinstalling Windows.

Thank you.

No I would want your assistance a million times more than the other 2 options. I find the recording software issue interesting because never in my history of having pc's full of spyware and viruses, have I ever l had this issue. I feel like it's something I installed or something.

Okay I think you're getting application errors because either the manifest is corrupt or possibly one of the Visual C++ Runtimes is missing or damaged.
Please see if you can download and install these versions or if the system tells you they're already installed.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

If those won't install then please read the following and run the sxstrace.exe tool as described and then post back the log file.

How to use sxstrace.exe

That is something I'll do if it's a last resort because I had so so much trouble to get it to work with my recording software in the first place. I haven't had any issues yet. What I did instead was remove the folder that contained the waves plugins that I don't use with Adobe Audition 1.5. I use them with Adobe Audition 3.0 for post production so I will see if that fixes the issue cause I don't get hang ups in that program.

Unfortunately there probably is no good fix for that and part of the issue of a computer getting infected or using Registry Cleaners is that it can be difficult to near impossible to restore the computer back to the way it was.

Please read the following concerning clean up.  The best option would be to backup your data and reinstall Windows but most users don't want to go that route.

The complexity of finding, preventing, and cleanup from malware

Yes I know this. I'm just worry that all that we have done did more harm than good. I know we removed harmful things, but it seems things were working better before I posted on here. I'm guessing we're throwing the towel in on microsoft security essentials? This has been an almost 3 month process, and it seems the initial objective was never accomplished. I really appreciate all the help, but I'm having more problems now then before I posted which I am worried about. I won't re-install windows because there's way too many things to set up that was set up for me by someone I can't go to anymore, I don't know how to do it on my own. I just hope this whole process hasn't screwed my computer up.

Okay, please run the following tool one more time after creating a NEW System Restore Point.

ESET Services Repair

Please download the ESET services repair from here and save the file to your desktop.

On XP double click to run it. On Vista/Win7/Win8 please right click and choose "Run as administrator"

Once the tool has finished please restart the computer.

Then run the following again.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit from HERE

If needed there is a self help tutorial here: MBAR tutorial

  • Unzip the contents to a folder in a convenient location.
  • Open the folder where the contents were unzipped and run mbar.exe
  • Follow the instructions in the wizard to update and allow the program to scan your computer for threats.
  • Click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats and reboot if prompted to do so.
  • Wait while the system shuts down and the cleanup process is performed.
  • Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process.
  • When done, please post the two logs produced they will be in the MBAR folder... mbar-log.txt and system-log.txt

  • Root Admin

Did you run the ESET Services Repair did it run okay?

Please look in the folder where you have MBAR and there should be a Plugins folder.  In that folder will be a program called FIXDAMAGE.EXE please right click over that program and choose "Run as administrator" and when it's done please restart your computer again.

Then run the Dr Web antivirus scanner for me.  This one may take a while to run.

dr_web_cureit_zpse80d87bf.jpg

  1. Please download Dr.Web CureIt! antivirus and save it to your computer. The file size is in excess of 100MB
  2. NOTE: Free usage of Dr.Web CureIt! for business purposes is illegal.
  3. Internet Explorer may show a warning when downloading - the file is safe to download from the provided link.
  4. Shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts while scanning.
  5. Once the scans have completed please re-enable your antivirus.
  6. If using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO you can right click over the tray icon and disable the Protection Modules
  7. If needed you can also temporarily disable it from starting with Windows
  8. Temporarily turn off any other security add-ons or applications you may also have.
  9. Once you have downloaded Dr.Web CureIt! you should right click over it and choose Properties and verify it has a Digital Signature.
  10. If it does not have a Digital Signature then do not run it.
  11. Close all open programs including all Web browsers and then double-click on drweb-cureit.exe to start the installer.
  12. You should have your User Account Control (UAC) enabled for improved security and which should then produce a dialog box asking for approval to run the installer.
  13. Click on the Yes button to start the installer.
  14. Click OK to scan your computer in the Enhanced Protection Mode
  15. Click on the check box to agree to participate in their software improvement program.
  16. Then if needed choose your Language by clicking on the small globe like icon in the upper right corner by the wrench.
  17. Then click on the Continue button and then click on the Select objects for scanning link just below the "Start scanning" button.
  18. Place a check mark on all the items except for Temporary files and System restore points - those items should not have a check mark on them.
  19. Then click on the Start scanning button.
  20. If a threat is found you can click on the Action column in the program.
  21. Your options will be Cure or Ignore
  22. If you see an item that you are absolutely sure is OK, then un-check the check box for that item, otherwise keep it on Cure.
  23. Then click on the Neutralize button.
  24. Once completed click on the green Open Report link. It will open the report in NOTEPAD
  25. Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called Cureit.log
  26. Close Dr.Web Cureit!
  27. Reboot your computer to allow files that were in use to be moved/deleted during reboot.
  28. After reboot, attach the log Cureit.log you saved previously in your next reply.
  29. Re-Enable your antivirus and other security programs when all done.
