PUP.datamngr removal help needed

Recommended Posts

Hello, The computer in question is my mother's. It stopped working well yesterday.

Symptoms: extreme long boot times only to load up and freeze. Mouse moves, yet clicking on anything just creates the waiting icon. programs take 10-15 minutes to load. shutdown results in over a half hour wait.

Malwarebytes detected 2 registry keys: PUP.datamangr

I deleted some related malware (searchnu maybe) a few months ago from this machine for her, but now ITS BAAAAACK!!!

Ran the dds and that took over an hour to generate. Programs respond fast in safe mode and mouse works fine.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THIS MACHINE: She bought it from her son in law a few years ago. it is still using windows service pack 1 I believe as every try to update results in failure. Microsoft techs can't give an explanation or a fix for that issue. Maybe we (you) can help sort that out after we get rid of the malware that resides in the system.

Thank you for your time!
