Malwarebytes crashes after a few minutes....Pls Help!

Recommended Posts

I just deleted and reinstalled Malwarebytes. After about 6 minutes, it does one of the following:

1. Most of the time, it freezes and i have to restart.

2. Sometimes, it would show a window that says "logon failure"

3. At one time, it just restarted the computer automatically.

Recently, it froze at this point of the scan: c:\PROGRAMDATA\ntuser.dat.LOG1

I am having the exact same issue on a customer PC. It is a new (about a 1 month old Lenovo laptop) running Win7 x64. I have disabled all start up items in MSCONFIG, ran a full scan in Safe Mode with MWB and Avast and with TDSS KIller and the PC was clean on all counts. I have removed Avast and it still does it. I created a new user account and tested there and it still does it (freezes after a few minutes of just simply sitting there). The PC freezes before anything is logged to the Event Viewer so I cannot see what is causing it to freeze. The 2 mbam services in services.msc are set to delayed start.

Anything else I should try?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

First uninstall the program from Add/Remove or Programs and Features

The uninstall etc. given above is not usually required these days, just the MBAM clean.exe

I only added this so you would check it was removed from Add / Remove / Programs area -

ran a full scan in Safe Mode with MWB << Note that this will produce a log but rarely remove many infections.

Many / most infections are not available for removal as Safe Mode will only load basic information.

Once you have attempted to reinstall Malwarebytes, see below if infections mat be a cause -

Please note that this area of the forum is not for Infected Computers -

If you think you are infected, here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested as this can cause data loss and make recovery difficult
