Lower Fingerprint Count

In the next version of the database there will be a significantly lower fingerprint count and a lower filesize. Here are some advantages,

1. Faster download speeds for the database.

2. Faster scan times.

We have removed some of these fingerprints because they have been replaced by solid heuristics and we have optimized the database structure for quicker scans.

Just clearing this up because I know we will have some questions .

Another question - why is the update file 100 KB heavier (it used to be around 1500, it's now 1600)?

It's easy for the size of the code base to increase when making changes. I remember when MBAM was only around 1MB. I think I remember it being around 0.8MB once.

Maybe i am paranoid but i have to check. Has the fingerprint database been lowered

again? Because just now after i updated, the database seems to be lowered even more

then i mentioned in my thread in february?

Yes.

In general we want to keep the size down for performance reasons. Every additional entry in the database gets checked against every file scanned (this is not actually true, but close enough to illustrate my point), so there is a performance cost to adding entries to the database. Therefore, if we can streamline it we will always do so.
