jhep3304 Posted April 23, 2012 Author ID:545207 Share Posted April 23, 2012 If I understand your reply correctly then the answer to my question is no, Malwarebytes does not check for this malware. Is that correct?
ShyWriter Posted April 23, 2012 ID:545220 Share Posted April 23, 2012 If I understand your reply correctly then the answer to my question is no, Malwarebytes does not check for this malware. Is that correct? It is my understanding that a Malwarebytes SCAN will catch this Malware but I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it will block this infestation from occurring to begin with. My apologies for my incomplete answer to your original question.Hopefully this post will "bump" your original post to the top again and an TRUSTED ADVISOR or EXPERT or MODERATOR will be able to answer it.Shy
exile360 Posted April 23, 2012 ID:545245 Share Posted April 23, 2012 DNS Changer (the one referred to in all of the news stories etc.) is a fairly old infection so not only should Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detect it/prevent it, but so should basically any antivirus. jhep3304 Posted April 23, 2012 Author ID:545252 Share Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks to both. Aside to "ShyWriter": Just re-read my second post. I didn't mean it to sound as curt as it came out. I had already followed the steps you originally pointed out and my system was/is clean. I was more interested in Malwarebytes capabilities since I routinely tout it to family and friends.Appreciate the help and quick response.jh
exile360 Posted April 23, 2012 ID:545261 Share Posted April 23, 2012 You're welcome Also remember that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not an antivirus, nor is it a replacement for one. Malwarebytes is designed to run in realtime along side your active, up-to-date antivirus in order to catch the threats that your antivirus might miss.
