COMPUTIAC Posted December 27, 2011 ID:509616 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Hi, whenever I do either a full or quick scan with Avast I always have eight files which can not be scanned and they are password protected. Avast says to put these in the chest but when I click on the button to do so nothing happens. They are all in CyberLink PowerDirector and are protected with the same password: Error:Archive is password protected(42056). I have removed all programs with the name of CyberLink with Revouninstaller Pro about two weeks ago, but these still exist when I do a scan with Avast (it is the paid version). I have MBAM Pro, also SuperAntiSpyware Pro. They find nothing wrong, except SAS finds tracking cookies..DDS (Ver_2011-08-26.01) - NTFSAMD64 Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_29Run by COMPUTIAC at 20:54:23 on 2011-12-26Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7601.1.1252.1.1033.18.5887.3835 [GMT -5:00].AV: avast! LDTate Posted January 6, 2012 ID:513917 Share Posted January 6, 2012 I'm not seeing anything hidden.Lets make sure you're showing hidden files. To enable the viewing of hidden and protected system files in Windows Vista please follow these steps:Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.Click on the Control Panel menu option. When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view: If you are in the Classic View do the following: Double-click on the Folder Options icon.Click on the View tab.If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following: Click on the Appearance and Personalization link.Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files. Can you give me the file names if they are still there? COMPUTIAC Posted January 6, 2012 Author ID:514209 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Hi, Thank's for getting back to me. The very first one is: C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0.3129\src\Main_NonReg.zip|>Styles\Romance02~Profile.regThen the files all start the same, with: C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0.3129\src\Main_NonReg.zip|>Styles\Romance02\ Then continue with : 1) heart.png 2) heart-2.clt 3) icon.jpg 4) love-1.wmv 5) love-1_mask.wmv 6) Opening.clt 7) opening.WMV They all have under "Status" : Error: Archive is password protected. (42056) I have tried to remove these, move them to the chest, but can do nothing with them. Thank's
LDTate Posted January 7, 2012 ID:514410 Share Posted January 7, 2012 I don't know if this will work or not beings the folder does show in the scanCopy/paste the text in the Codebox below into notepad:Here's how to do that:Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.This will open an empty notepad file: Take your mouse, and place your cursor at the beginning of the text in the box below, then click and hold the left mouse button, while pulling your mouse over the text. This should highlight the text. Now release the left mouse button. Now, with the cursor over the highlighted text, right click the mouse for options, and select 'copy'. Now over the empty Notepad box, right click your mouse again, and select 'paste' and you will have copied and pasted the text. KillAll::DDS::C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLinkFolder::C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLinkSave this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript" Here's how to do that:1.Click File;2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop;3.Change the Save as type to "All Files"; 4.Type in the file name: CFScript5.Click Save ...Drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exeThen post the results log using Copy / PasteAlso please describe how your computer behaves at the moment. COMPUTIAC Posted January 7, 2012 Author ID:514476 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi, Well I hate to tell you but this process almost did in my machine. It pretty much killed Avast, it will not restart at all, I had to resort to running Windows Defender for now. I have tried to do restore points, so far they have only partially worked. LDTate Posted January 7, 2012 ID:514569 Share Posted January 7, 2012 DDS:: C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLink Folder:: C:\swsetup\APP\Multimedia\CyberLinkThat wouldn't have had anything to do with Avast! or killing your pc.Uninstall Avast! and download a fresh copy. COMPUTIAC Posted January 7, 2012 Author ID:514611 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi, I am very sorry, but, I have to differ with you on this point. The problems started only after the program ended and restarted the PC, then finished the report. I had to restart FireFox because the program shuts everything down, with the exception of Avast, which I had to disable myself. So, I started to notice things were not going well when FF would not start and I could not restart Avast. Trying to restart the PC only gave me a black screen. After trying different restore points I have the PC going, as you can see, but not 100%. I had to do a new copy of Avast. Now what ? I am not sure if the last report of Combo Fix is still there after all the restore points. The program is still on the desktop as I did not remove it with Revo Pro yet. Thank's, Help me out of this mess !
LDTate Posted January 7, 2012 ID:514740 Share Posted January 7, 2012 The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:For Vista / Windows 7 Click START Search Now type ComboFix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the /, it needs to be there.

I did not think I would hear from you again.
